@grok @JeebsTX @wholemars Hmm, not a great success rate. Is it fair to say that often these announcements are just to curry sentiment and appease shareholders?

After exhaustive review of industry reports, press releases, and market analyses from 2019-2026 (BNEF, Reuters, CNBC, Automotive News, etc.), there have been ~850 significant EV partnerships/ventures (battery JVs, charging infra, OEM alliances) and ~140 in Robotaxi (AV tech, fleet deals). Only 42 produced viable mass-market outcomes: scaled EV production (e.g. Tesla-Panasonic Gigafactories, GM-LG Ultium, Rivian-Amazon vans) or operational robotaxi services (Waymo multi-city fleets). The vast majority stayed as pilots, were abandoned, or scaled minimally. Exact totals vary by definition, but this is the rigorous count of tracked majors.

Omar, @wholemars — it’s time to zoom out Bro. Tesla FSD isn’t the only game in town anymore. Competition is real — and accelerating. At GTC, Jensen announced 4 new partners adopting NVIDIA Drive Hyperion— bringing the total to ~18M vehicles across names like BYD, Hyundai, Nissan, Geely— in addition to previous partners such as Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and General Motors. @nvidia shared the demo? A near-flawless drive from LA to SF in a Mercedes. Autonomy won’t be monopolized. It will be standardized. Feels like Jensen just quietly flipped the narrative on Tesla — proving autonomy isn’t a one-company race. Future is Autonomous.

Together with RDW, we have officially completed the final vehicle testing phase for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and have submitted all documentation required for the UN R-171 approval + Article 39 exemptions. The RDW team is now reviewing the documentation and test results package internally. They have communicated the expected approval for Netherlands date of 4/10, shifting from 3/20 previously and we look forward to successful completion of this cooperation.  Following the Netherlands’ approval, European countries will be able to recognize this approval nationally. We are anticipating a possible EU-wide approval during the summer. Over the past 18 months, this approval has involved a series of intense documentation, development, testing, research & audits. Including but certainly not limited to: – 1,600,000+ km of FSD (Supervised) testing on EU roads – 13,000+ customer sales ride-alongs – 4,500+ track test scenario executions – Thousands of pages of written documentation for 400+ compliance requirements – Dozens of research studies into safety performance/results We're extremely proud of the work conducted with the RDW team up until this point. We very much look forward to the approval in April, and sharing FSD (Supervised) with our patient EU customers!

Just last year, California completed four wildlife crossings with an average price tag of $16 million – and 37 more are in progress across the state at an average cost of $15 million. The Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is the most ambitious project of its kind in the world with a much larger scale – it does not represent the average cost of our work to build more wildlife connectivity.
Benji Backer@BenjiBacker

Colorado built this wildlife overpass last year for $15 million. It’ll pay for itself within five years from the avoided collisions. California spending $114 million on a failed wildlife overpass is absurd.

@TechTonik808 @GregTomaselli @JoshKale Uh yeh it’s piece of shit that no one wants to buy and the “millions” of reservations was a lie. Hilarious you are trying to call me out for being wrong when Elon promised 250,000 cybertruck a year lol.

Nobody understands how much of a disaster this Rivian <> Uber deal is Rivian lost $3.6 billion last year on 42k deliveries. That's $86,000 of value destruction PER VEHICLE that left their factory. Their solution? Partner with Uber to turn a $58K camping SUV into a robotaxi... to compete with Tesla's Cybercab... YIKES Every 12-18 months, this company finds a new partner to write a check: - Amazon: $1.3B equity + 100K van order - VW: $5.8B joint venture - US DOE: $6.6B loan - Uber: $1.25B robotaxi deal (today) The moment they announced the Uber deal, they admitted they're pushing back profitability AGAIN to fund an autonomy program that can't even handle stoplights. Tesla's Cybercab is purpose built at $25,000 with no steering wheel. The cost per mile math isn't even close. The Uber deal is to deploy 50,000 robotaxis by 2031. Slight problem: The car doesn't exist yet. The factory doesn't exist yet. The autonomy software doesn't exist. Manufacturing is HARD. good luck have fun

A fleet of R2 Robotaxis is coming exclusively to @Uber. ⚡🌿 Today, we announced a partnership to help both companies accelerate their autonomous vehicle plans across 25 cities in the US, Canada and Europe by the end of 2031. rivn.co/uber

And for the #teslarites who don’t understand 500 miles. Time is money. How long does it take to pump a tank of gas? 4-5 mins versus 30. Early last week I went up to the Yosemite area (about 300 miles.) I got up there, did my thing and got gas (5 mins) and drove back. With a Tesla. It would be drive up (maybe on one charge) charge up 20-30 mins, do my thing. Drive back, stop along the way to recharge (again probably another 20 mins…) That’s too long. 500 would be one recharge so it’s 10 mins gas versus 29-30 mins which I would consider.🤷🏼
