One of the biggest rumoured improvements with RAGE 9 was the water sims. Tying that in the RT lighting & global illumination, it's certainly going to look impressive, even just looking at the screenshots of the game you can pick out so many differences to older R* releases. It would be cool if they implemented tidal differences between different times of the day, certain areas could contain more water than other times of the day etc.

There are countless reasons to be excited for GTA 6, and every new detail seems to open the door to even more possibilities. Watching the latest Battlefield 6 map trailer got me thinking about what Rockstar might have planned for GTA 6’s water systems especially whether we’ll finally see truly massive waves.
For years, fans have speculated about dynamic hurricanes making their way into the game, and it would be incredible if they happened as rare world events. Picture a hurricane making landfall, generating six-meter waves that crash into the coastline, overturn boats, flood beaches, and send NPCs rushing inland in panic.
Considering how much more important the ocean appears to be in GTA 6 than in any previous entry, it’s hard not to think Rockstar has invested heavily in its water technology. From realistic wave simulation and boat handling to NPC behavior and environmental interactions, the water could become one of the game’s most impressive and immersive systems.
