@F1RETHECANNON @CBJStatsGuy It's time for someone in the organization to admit that they picked the wrong guy 4th overall, too. Nailing that pick would have made a huge difference in their rebuild.

I thought about this a lot over the last few weeks. To me, it’s clear that there is a leadership issue with #CBJ. Boone is not the captain that will rally and lead the team the way it needs to be. And I think I have come to the conclusion that Werenski isn’t either. He hasn’t held the captaincy, but he’s been an integral part of this leadership group. The last thing he won is the Calder Cup with the Monsters 10 years ago. I know this is hard to hear for many of you, but let’s deal in truths here, because we all want this team to win. I believe that we let Z just be the elite player he is, and give the captaincy and lead chair of the leadership group to new blood. This could be Coyle, another player that comes in or has already come in, or maybe even Marchenko for a few years until Fantilli is potentially ready. One thing is clear. The current leadership group is not cutting it, and there might be a clash between new blood and the current leadership group, which led to the collapse down the stretch. So I have come to the conclusion that if there’s not a change in it, the Blue Jackets won’t win anything with a leadership group like this. Time to make the correct move, no matter how much that might hurt a couple current guys on a personal level. It’s hockey, after all - the ultimate team sport.
