Tekken Reality Check

I feel like a piece of shit when I beat my opponents in #Tekken8 because of how broken some moves are and when I lose I feel like I got scammed. Tekken 8 is the most vile and corrupted experience you can have in a videogame these days.

@Kaneandtrench Tekken 8 tier lists are a bad way to classify characters. Shaheen can be bottom 5 but the difference between him and the top 5 is so tiny and negligible that the whole tierlist doesn’t make sense anymore. Everyone is in the same blob, there’s one tier.

After having played many sets with Sephi's Shaheen in ranked, its actually super awkward to move around his pokes due to their range and tracking, and their amazing frames keeping you stuck. For a "bottom 5" character, his buttons sure don't seem to be lacking.

@Nozushii This is not Tekken, it’s modern slop Tekken… if your character doesn’t have a REALLY good reason to jab (Lars 1,1,1 and the likes) there is literally no point because the risk reward is against you by a lot. If you want a fast move do dickjab. Jab literally useless.

One thing I don’t like about Tekken is there are a lot of easy access moves that are plus on block and hard to step, and when I don’t want to block them I either wanna move or control my opponent with pokes, but moving doesn’t work that well and there are so many things that’s just blow you up for trying to jab or poke a lil bit. So I end up just not wanting to do anything but if I do that I’ll take the plus frames and mix…

@Brawlpro The Tekken series had AURA when other games didn’t even know the concept of aura, but nowadays tekken looks like a clown game and I genuinely feel sorry for whoever plays it. If you need mental health help there are numerous associations depending on your area.

@Arafa_Mohamed97 Tekken is the most unserious esports ever right now, people are not playing to learn the hardest matchup in the game, they are playing to be plus on block and apply a mixup. Nobody owes you a rematch. I’m not trying to jab at you, just a real advice: stop caring.

@SpaghettiRip This is very polarizing, if a character is top 5 for any given season, all the characters who struggle with said matchup for a real lack of punish options are cut out from being competitive viable basically ‘till patch and given their patch speed…

One thing that I really liked about characters in the past is that their punishment options often meant certain matchups were difficult. E.g. Before Bryan had FC df21, doing certain lows against him was safer and it was a weakness of his. Also some chars only having i16 launchers so -15 was safer (Negan powercrush example in T7). Would be nice to unstandardise punishment carefully so characters excel or slightly struggle in matchups, rather than most characters having mostly solid options.
