Dr Umar Johnson once mentioned this covert mission in one of his interviews some years ago which he said was termed "Faith Bases Initiative". Fund the religion to keep them docile
David Hundeyin@DavidHundeyin

Between the 1960s and the 1980s, under the guise of "countering Communism," the CIA infiltrated Christian movements all over Africa and the Global South with the mission of steering Christian doctrines away from so-called "Liberation Theology" (teachings that encouraged people to stand up to corrupt governments and take collective action to better their lives), because this doctrine apparently was "Communist." It funded and assisted the explosive growth of a whole new form of Christianity, which you recognise today as Prosperity Gospel, and it pumped millions of dollars into pushing it all over the Global South as part of its Cold War effort. This new doctrine ignored any kind of collectivism and encouraged people to see their Christian faith and salvation as individualistic issues that can be measured with specific individual outcomes, such as economic "blessing." It was the perfect capitalist trojan horse because it convinced people to stop thinking of progress as a shared national issue and rather as an individual responsibility, which meant they did not need to organise into pressure groups, political movements, trade unions, student unions, or any other collectivist entities that the US government considered "Leftist" or "Communist." It succeeded wildly, and turned the world's poorest people in Sub Saharan Africa into rabid, money-obsessed capitalists without capital. And in case you're wondering whether this means that all your mega pastors in Lagos and Abuja are US government-funded industry plants, the answer is simple: do a 1-minute Google search and find out where they all gained their theology degree or pastor training. There's your answer. Anyway this is all on open record on the FOIA section of the CIA's own website, but the oyibos have convinced you that "Africans don't read," and you have internalised your own false stereotype, so you definitely won't read regardless. Your job is to enter my comment sections and drop laughing emojis because your forced laughter is your coping mechanism for dealing with how completely powerless and lost you are in a world you haven't begun to understand. Anyway for the benefit of the 2 people who understand the value of reading and exervising their brains: CIA and Missionaries: Half a Loaf by Wesley Granberg-Michaelson sojo.net/magazine/may-j… CIA Covert Action Information Bulletin Number 18: The CIA and Religion cia.gov/readingroom/do… Blowback of the gods: the U.S. government's covert use of religion as a tool of foreign policy in the Cold War by Wallace, James C. open.bu.edu/items/4e6bb7b6… Liberation Theology: Religion, Reform, and Revolution (CIA Directorate of Intelligence Research Paper) cia.gov/readingroom/do…

American companies took their manufacturing to China n Vietnam. How many manufacturing companies has USA sourced or moved to any African country?? Instead we get get bombs n coercive resources for aid deal. USA n the West take manufacturing to China n Vietnam, then take lectures of "Democracy n climate change" to Africa Why is USA not taking lectures of Democracy to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Vietnam, china, etc? Vietnam's GDP per Capita grew because unlike Africa, America stopped bombing n forcing "Democracy" on them n instead moved their manufacturing base to them. You n I know that Africans have the brains n technical know-how WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR THE SAME, ALL WE ARE ASKING IS FOR YOU 🫵 AND USA TO STOP FORCING LECTURES DOWN OUR THROAT AND ACTUALLY LET AFRICA ESTABLISH LOCAL INDUSTRIES. Vietnam has zero lecturers like you 🫵 Turn around and tell your sponsors, if they can't treat Africa like Vietnam, they should at least, stop lecturing Africa on policies n politics, climate change n emissions. No country develops with foreign Lectures!
Magatte Wade@magattew

People keep telling me that Africa can't develop because of foreign meddling.  The West interferes, they say. The colonizers won't let us rise. Let me tell you about Vietnam. The United States bombed Vietnam for nearly a decade.  They dropped 7.5 million tons of bombs, which is more than three times what was dropped during all of World War II. Entire provinces were flattened.  They sprayed millions of gallons of Agent Orange that poisoned the land and the people for generations.  After the war, America broke its promise to provide reconstruction aid and pressured international institutions to deny Vietnam any loans or assistance. The country was left isolated, embargoed, and devastated. In 1986, Vietnam was on the brink of collapse.  Inflation had hit 700 percent and farmers were starving. If any nation had the right to blame foreign powers for its misery and give up, it was Vietnam. Instead, they changed their policies. They launched reforms called Doi Moi that legalized private enterprise, welcomed foreign investment, gave farmers land rights, and opened up to global trade.  Within a decade, the economy was growing at 7 percent per year and poverty was cut in half.  Today, Vietnam's GDP per capita has grown from under $100 in 1990 to over $4,000. Poverty dropped from 60 percent to under 5 percent. Major companies are now moving their factories from China to Vietnam. This is a country that was literally bombed flat by a superpower, poisoned, and abandoned.  And they still found a way to prosper because they were willing to change their economic system. So when I hear Africans say we can't develop because of meddling, I want to ask: what meddling post-colonialism compares to what Vietnam went through? We weren't bombed like that. We weren't poisoned like that. We weren't embargoed like that.  What we have for the most part are governments that refuse to create the conditions for entrepreneurs to thrive, and leaders who benefit from keeping us poor and dependent. Foreign meddling is real, and it happens to every poor country on earth.  It's not unique to Africa. It's what the powerful do to the weak, and every major power plays that game.  The only escape is to become prosperous enough that you can stand on your own feet, and that requires economic freedom. Wake up Africa!

57 Arab and Muslim countries OFFERED Israel PEACE in 2024. GUARANTEED SECURITY included in exchange for a Palestinian state and an end to the occupation. Israel REFUSED. Then Israel turns around and claims “they don’t want peace” while acting as the MAIN obstacle to any peace.

Is Ghana Moving Towards Nationalizing Its Gold? When the colonial criminals of Europe first stepped foot in Africa, they did not meet a “poor”, “starving” or “corrupt” continent. Otherwise, they and their descendants would not have gone on to plunder this continent for 500 years. What Africans know today as poverty, hunger and corruption are not indigenous phenomena, but symptoms of a disease that was brought upon their land by parasites who had no interest in “civilizing” anyone. It is a tragic irony. Africa is “poor” because it is wealthy, and because this wealth is being plundered, and the centuries the West has spent plundering Africa’s wealth is a testament to just how boundless that wealth is. Ghana is Africa’s largest gold producer, and has been since 2019. Yet the bulk of the value from this gold has historically been carted off by foreign corporations, at the expense of the Ghanaian people. But recent developments in the West African country seem to be shaking this status quo. Since returning to office in December 2024, Ghana President John Dramani Mahama has effected reforms which have moved his country towards greater control over its natural resources, and seen its economy steadily grow. What do these reforms mean for Ghana’s future? And is the country truly embarking on a nationalist path, one which could finally fulfill the dream of its founding father, Kwame Nkrumah? @panspear reports for the Spearhead.

A very important question that cuts to the heart of everything that animates imperial logic - no matter how big and powerful an empire is, it sees every village uprising as a threat because it is paranoid and violently neurotic by nature.

Once I see a person praising virtue signalling dictators like Traore I know not to take anything they say serious. There is simply no way to whitewash a military dictatorship. No amount of pan African bullshit can change what a military dictatorship is. No amount of anti Western posturing will make a man, who arrogates to himself the right to be the sole and final decision maker for a whole country, worthy of emulating or praise.

These democracy crusaders never cease to amuse me. No word about how Burkina Faso was literally the poorest country in the world and is only just recovering. Not a mention about the parasitic Francafrique monetary and economic system. Not a toot about the insanely unfair resource arrangements that turned Burkina Faso into one giant mine. I admire your writing prowess and all round intellect, Mr. John. But it's people like you who would have detested Deng Xiaoping, Thomas Sankara and Park Chung Lee and Ho Chi Minh because "Dictator bad. Democracy good" Meanwhile the West you evidently admire were barbaric, genocidal authoritarian states during their formative years. They plundered and pillaged and killed and raped my continent. Your continent, in case you've forgotten. They bombed, invaded and tariffed their way to prosperity. And after they got rich, they kicked down the ladder and rewrote the rules so Aisha from rural Kebbi and Okorie from rural Ebonyi remain at the bottom of the global value chain and therefore in perpetual, artifical poverty. The only people that have overturned this unfair state of affairs have ALL been dictators by necessity.. Only rich stable nations with decades long economic, social and military buffers can afford democracy. A resource rich, dirt poor, extremely uneducated African nation whose economy is gasping for air under the boot of Imperialist policies, and sometimes whose citizens are being slaughtered by Western funded terrorists, CANNOT afford the pathetic quadriennial thumb printing exercise known as democracy where 90% of the population vote for a loaf of bread and a sachet of spaghetti. As a poor African country, you NEED socialist-leaning dictators/autocrats/one party states to unalive the Comprador class and aggressively reduce social inequality via the deliberate control of state resources. You know... Like: Singapore: Lee Kuan Yew Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh China: The CPC with Mao, Deng, Xi Turkey: Ataturk Meanwhile our own African figures have all been killed or deposed with great involvement from the West. Nkrumah: Couped Sankara: Assassinated. Lumumba: Dismembered and dissolved in acid. Abacha: Assassinated And hey, just so you know, many of the evil dictators were actually put there BY the United States and it's democracy peddling Western allies. 1. The Shah of Iran replaced Mossadegh 2. Pinochet replaced Allende 3. Campaore replaced Sankara 4. Mobutu replaced Lumumba 5. Sukarno replaced Suharto 6. Arbenz replaced with Castillo Armas 7. Nkrumah replaced with Ankrah List goes on and on. See ehn, you democracy lovers will be fine.

Nigerians seriously need to learn the science of money. Money is not something that exits somewhere to be plucked. Money is the reward for your value. 2 billion won on a bet is a reward for your collective labour that has gone into one person’s pockets. Meaning, every single one of you registered on the betting platform has contributed 2 billion to give to one person. That 2 billion that you are hoping to win one day, where do you think it will come from, especially as you are also hoping not to lose? For a betting company to remain in business, it must be profitable, which means for every 2 billion won, there’s 10 billion lost. This very lack of knowledge about basic economics is exactly why your collective decisions, including political ones, don’t surprise me. SMH 🤦🏿‍♂️.

Why Did Washington Lift Ethiopia’s Arms Embargo Now? Why is Washington opening the door for arms access to Ethiopia at this moment? The answer is simple. With the UAE already accused of backing the RSF, and Ethiopia now emerging as a possible route in the Sudan war, this decision could create another corridor for weapons to flow into an already devastating conflict and true to its predatory nature, the US empire has primed itself to exploit that opening. Sudan’s war is not a local power struggle. It is about foreign interests, mineral wealth, regional control, and the continued weakening of African states for outside benefit.
