Here’s the dossier on our suspect… Claims to have been a ‘TV News photog’, whatever that is. Says he can ‘spot auto-focus a mile away’. Got a lotta trophies. Wears his ID around his neck. There you go, a known loner with no marketable skills. Check the fast food parking lots!

@Behringer maybe if you hadn’t dumped out on your customer support? As an end user and purchaser that pretty much ended any interest in your products

Many media outlets and “influencers” have decided not to support us anymore because we don’t pay for ads, don’t provide free products for reviews or they simply don’t like us for whatever reason.

Poorly Explain What You Do For A Living: I distill reality into bite-size chunks. I keep local car commercials from bumping into each other. I cause county commissioners to over-emote. I fanboy traffic cops. I give failed thespians the only close-ups they’ll ever get.

Be advised. BSU is filming a movie scene today involving actors in police uniforms at a private residence on Pleasant Street.

"Unhinged field work scientists"? This is run-of-the-mill in tv news. It describes every news photog I've worked with and a fair number of live shots in my shows over a nearly 30 year career. @Lenslinger @irisup @TeleTristan you feel this?

@danger_steve @Eve6 It was probably that way for their beginnings… but in the 90’s they definitely had a tech and his name was Dale and he was a cool guy.

@TeleTristan @Eve6 always thought “the violent femmes… they take all their equipment on the bus… and you do not fuck with the violent femmes you do NOT FUCK with THIS BAND!” meant it was just the three of them schlepping their gear and setting up on their own every nite… the idea of a tech = 🤯

@ErickWeber dude just saw Black Phone and all I can say is “WOW”! Trauma mixed with horror! Absolutely one of the best scary movies I’ve seen in years!

@exceptions @UndercoverIndi I completely agree with that sentiment. When I dig in on Thursday I’m going to double check, they seem tight. I think I’m only the third owner of this amp and the tubes hadn’t been changed when I got as far as I know.

The only problem I've found with failed rectifier valves is out of spec/shorted/open/leaky electrolytic capacitors which can cause the amp to draw excessive current and cause them to redplate but that's not all the common but it does happen What's the issue with your Bassman ? =)
Tristan Walsh@TeleTristan

@UndercoverIndi I don’t know if I’ve ever had a rectifier tube (valve) actually “go bad”… I have had lots of vintage amps and have replaced them, but I don’t think I ever had one fail and they don’t get microphonic like preamp or power tubes. I am having a weird issue with my 66 Bassman ATM

@UndercoverIndi thank you for the advice on that! I’ll use one of my wood handled swabs from back when “head cleaning” was my jam. (I think I have a case of them from Miller Stevenson)

Just use liquid Deoxit and Q-Tip swabs don't ever use anything abrasive on the pins/sockets like emery cloth or steel wool Deoxit will dissolve any corrosion and oxidation all on its own but it does take patients =)
Tristan Walsh@TeleTristan

@UndercoverIndi straight in and straight out… right? I’m going to see if the pins are even crusty and then just use an emery stick with deoxit (actually I have gold cleaner) instead of using my sacrificial tube set to clean the sockets.

If the getters are good and the pins aren't corroded you should be good to go with just cleaning the sockets Just be very careful when doing so and don't rock the valves too much so you don't oval out the pin sockets Lots of people do that and I've made a killing fixing them 😉
Tristan Walsh@TeleTristan

@UndercoverIndi they weren’t “cheap” even back in 2000. They sounded fantastic! It’s one of the reasons I’m hoping it’s socket lint that’s the issue.

@UndercoverIndi I only “think” I know what’s up, every time I think I know what up is I find something to confuse me. I hope this convo sparks some interest in elder tube amp maintenance too! Thank you for being a great sounding board and providing awesome advice!

More than likey oxidized sockets do to the humidity Pretty easy fix Sounds to me you know what's up I didn't know what your experience level was so that is why I made those suggestions I'm hoping some of our virgin gear heads on here learned a thing or two today lol 😉
Tristan Walsh@TeleTristan

@UndercoverIndi storage was pretty well controlled to never go above 70F or lower than 50F… but it was my dad’s basement lol. I’m in the Boston area so without a dehumidifier in the loop (which there wasn’t) I can see this as an issue (or dirty sockets)
