@DearDara Interesting- hadn't really thought of this. I can dismiss the the serial killer notions but what about snakes (my irrational fear!), falling and getting hurt, etc. More an easing of the "what if I need help --or my kid needs help-- and we're way out here all alone" stuff

Another thought, alarm-poles... every time I go solo camping a chorus of women are like: Aren't you afraid of serial killers? I'm absolutely not. But I wonder if a security push-button would make some women feel safer? Like you see on campuses?

Feel like so many state-subsidized outdoors activities like fishing, hunting are so men-focused, assuming you have a boat and primary interest in nature is killing it. If outdoor things were designed for modern ppl of all genders and nature-approaches, what would be added?

@clhubes Until this very minute I completely blocked out my daughters meltdown at TSA when they made her put her blankie through the baggage scanner. It was a trip with my in-laws and although she got said blankie back within two minutes, she screamed for at least the next twenty. trauma
