@stevejones20 @HPbasketball Fair, tho my east thinking is more long term. Bron Cavs had no west level competition. Of course no Hali injury could’ve meant Indy as reigning champ currently playing NYK again in the ECF which would show stability and is already a top rivalry.

If the Knicks win the title, beating one of two 60-plus win teams after DESTROYING everyone in the East by this margin, it's one of the most impressive title runs I can remember.

@FullAccessHoops @ringer And I’m aware that’s incorrect. Finals opponent? Yes. Rd1? No. Lakers? Only based on reputation; old champs fall hard and suddenly. 2011 OKC? Good, not great. I was there and watched it all.

@TeutonSF @ringer You didn’t make any correction because you’re take is wrong. There’s been several articles and statistical data that points to that Mavericks team having one of the Top 5 hardest sos title runs of all-time.

Which NBA championship would be more universally beloved: the 2026 Knicks or the 2011 Mavs? 🤔

@SamAFichtner @BillSimmons 1) this is true and Diaw must be on any role player list. 2) Suns never reach WCF and instead lose to Dallas in rd2 if the seeding were done properly. Two 60 win teams in rd2 whereas Suns got the mid 40 win Clippers.

@BillSimmons His first playoffs! There is no way the Stoudemire-less Suns push Dallas to 6 in the WCF without his 18/6/5

@FullAccessHoops @ringer No need. Just a correction of “toughest path” perception. Takes nothing away from the title. Rare for a team to win with the overwhelming majority of all viewers rooting for you.

@Slime5ea5on @HoopsReceipts @tomhaberstroh He may be best in the league, ring or no. Folks can debate that if they choose. No serious person is saying all-time nor were they declaring about MJ before his first title.

@HPbasketball Ibaka missed gms 1&2, both blowout losses. He played the remaining four gms. Parker OTOH missed most of gm6 with a leg injury jury after playing hurt. Somehow that’s always forgotten.

@Bolerjack @SpursReporter McCain was out there, no? Clearly missing 2 handlers hurts them but no longer allowing easy 3s and a scrambling D from on high which created OR opportunities matters too.

The “secret” adjustment. Before Game 4, Stephon Castle said the Spurs had identified “one easy fix” after watching film and then after the game Devin Vassell said the team had made one defensive adjustment but refused to reveal what it was. I'm wonder if that adjustment and fix wasn't as simple as targeting and stopping OKC’s Alex Caruso? During the two losses Caruso had become one of the most impactful players on the court and to see him shut down the way he was on Sunday was, to say the least, impressive. Yet no one is talking about this. What do you think the adjustment was?

@Slime5ea5on @HoopsReceipts @tomhaberstroh To be accurate, not greatest ever just greatest in the league. Which by 1990 he clearly was. But at that point most longtime observers, long before 24/7 debate culture, considered Russell the GOAT.

@FullAccessHoops @ringer Not quite. The 2 teams that caused them the most problems that yr were the 60-win Spurs that eliminated them the prior season and the Grizzlies. They were fortunate both were on other side of the bracket. OKC wasn’t great nor ready, Lakers on downside just not yet recognized.

@SpursReporter @RealJayWilliams @GetUpESPN After 2021, narrative was Giannis nearing top 10 all-time. After 2022, is Curry already. 2023, is Jokic greatest big man. Last yr, is SGA best SG since MJ. The desire for debate and to crown people immediately without letting full story play out prevents genuine appreciation.

@DLineCo To be fair, Avs won two series and Broncos won a tremendous playoff gm and have the full confidence that they’d be the SB AFC rep if the QB were healthy. Nuggets were a bit overrated b/c so many just like Jokic.

Hey, Colorado sport fan. If I told you the Avs would easily win the Presidents trophy, make it to the WCF, the Nuggets would get the best season ever from Jamal Murray and and another MVP level season from Jokic, AND the Broncos would have the best record the NFL and make the AFC championship, you would take it right? WELL FUCK YOU ITS A TRICK.

@DevonBirdsong That and the points off turnovers. Limited those tonight. Remove the chaos and force them to run their offense. The grind of a full gm affects them too.

@ChiChiandPato @HPbasketball Agreed and yet I also would like to see the old Phil Jackson strategy. Don’t double till the 4Q. Let the star use up all his energy running the show and shooting. When you double late, his mates are not in rhythm.

@HPbasketball SGA can score 100, I don’t care. As long as the spurs win 101-100. It’s a strategy the spurs have employed to great success so many times. It’s when the deviate they get in trouble.

I kind of think they should keep committing to Shai. If Jaylin Williams and Caruso beat you with threes you kind of just have to tip your cap. Isn’t that better than getting beat by the offensive epicenter of their entire team?
Mo Dakhil@MoDakhil_NBA

A couple of thoughts for the Spurs heading into game four. 1) hey got to play faster, that 15-0 run most of that was in transition. 2) They're over committing to SGA, can't give up as many wide open looks 3) Run some cross screen actions to get Wemby deep touches 4) Obviously don't turn the ball over.

@HPbasketball Quite frankly, the Danny Green 12 day dry spell lost the 2012 WCF for the Spurs. To his complete credit he responded the next year with an unbelievable shooting performance in the Finals.

This is how the playoffs go a lot of the time. Then afterwards we assign value to shooters as playoff guys or not
3113ry@3113ry

@HPbasketball I keep thinking of Caruso going 2/12 from 3 on Christmas. Surely there must be a dry spell coming?? He was under 30% in the regular season
