Every now and then you're driving through a section of God's country and then something in the landscape changes and out pops some marker that says" pull over , you have to see this. " So I do. Driving north on Highway 53, the dense Wisconsin timberline begins to break, giving way to a vista that feels different from the rest of the Northwoods. It isn’t a lake or a resort that catches the eye, but the sudden, rhythmic sight of white granite markers standing in perfect formation against the rolling green hills of Washburn County. This is the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, a place that serves as a quiet, physical manifestation of a promise made over two centuries ago. The 97 acres here weren't chosen by accident. The land, much of it a gift from the people of the local community, was selected for its silence. When you pull off the highway, the sound of traffic fades, replaced by the wind through the pines and the distant call of a loon. Got my Starlink setup scheduled for this Sun 1600-2000. Hopefully we can make it work on the pole facing north vs installing on my roof. I don't want to deal w/roof leaks and shit later on down the road.
