A Rede Globo sempre fez coberturas de extrema qualidade em Olimpíadas e Copas do Mundo. Houve uma olimpíada em que eles chamaram ex-campeões estrangeiros para comentar e foi um primor de cobertura. Se o modelo de excelência hoje é o de quem berra mais, eu gostaria de saber em que ponto o pessoal começou a comer alfafa.

Como todo mundo menos os técnicos do governo sabia, a "taxação de dividendos" criada pelo governo ano passado não tá arrecadando nem um décimo do previsto nas contas. Mas sabe qual o engraçado? Essa "previsão" absurdamente superfaturada feita pelo PT foi usada como justificativa para aumentar os gastos em 30+ bilhões 2026, graças à arrecadação "prevista". E adivinha quem vai ser punido por esse erro grosseiro de estimativa? Isso mesmo: ninguém. Ou pior: você 🫵🤡

In 2002 I was living as a reporter in Buenos Aires when Brazil made it to the World Cup final -- for the 3rd straight time. A friend and I spontaneously bought tickets to Rio so we could be there for the celebration when they inevitably won. A big beery sea of yellow & green revelers on Copacabana chanting "Pen-ta-campe-ÃO!" My first lesson in a vowel sound I am still trying to master to this day. The initial seduction in a long romance with Brazil. *Never* did I imagine so much time would pass before seeing a similar party. At LEAST 28 years will pass before the "hexa," matching Brazil's longest drought from 1st Cup in 1930 to the magical 1958 run when a 17-year-old Pelé set the world on fire. Then, as during the 24-year drought from Pelé's last Cup until the 1994 win, I see all kinds of theories about Brazil's decay in both soccer & other areas. I am not a specialist in the técnica of the sport, but I did see a lack of big, confident personalities on this team -- Vini, Jr, and 10 other guys, it seemed. You read about Romario, Ronaldinho, Socrates, Carlos Alberto, Zico, etc, and I never had many expectations for this group. Neymar was never up to it, too fragile, sneering, symbolic of an era that now ends. Brazil will do the inevitable soul-searching and some of it's necessary. (NORWAY?? 5 mln people, a quarter of São Paulo) I would personally like to see a little more celebration, or at least awareness, of the history. A generation of players that mostly snubbed Pelé's funeral (as Lula recently noted with appropriate pique) may be symbolic of a need to reconnect with the creativity & verve that made Brazil great. So many good things happening in the country today, would be great to see soccer again at the same altura so my Brazilian kids can celebrate like I once did ;) VIVA. The way Paraguay played against France last night needs to be investigated by FIFA. How can a team approach a game at that level like that? They had no intention to play or get a result from the match but to get one or two French players on the treatment table. I'm still surprised how Germany lose the match against them. Cape Verde showed us how a team should play even when it's against all odd just like they did against the world champions Argentina. Paraguay performance was embarrassing and credits to the French players for keeping their cool and got the job done.

@Tim_Vickery Absolutely ridiculous interpretation. They disgraced themselves and should have had multiple yellows and red cards. Just a totally inept referee had no clue to deal with obvious systematic cheating, then merely booked the responses from France.

Been away a long time,but I'm a bit shocked by how people over there are taking the Paraguay display. Niggling, annoying, trying to provoke and wind up, yes. But no cards (could have had some, true) because there was nothing that was blood curdlingly violent. Often see far worse

@_keatings I can tell there are a lot of people in your camp Kevin... But I think we expect too much from these "smaller" nations against the most stacked XI and bench in the world. It's a method, it's not designed for entertainment, it's designed to win. They lost 1-0.

Look… Would I have liked to see Paraguay have “more of a go.” Absolutely. But they lost 1-0 to a France side STACKED with £100m players after 100 minutes. Side’s aren’t playing for your entertainment, they’re playing to win. This is the method they thought was best. They lost, that’s sport.
