weird map(some routes are just completely optional And they contain most johto mons)
horrible level scaling
HGSS fixed almost none of these issues

Johto hate aside I do think the environmental storytelling in johto would be perfect for a legends game as long as it's not just within ecruteak-olivine-mahogany town

the generational opinion flip on gen 7 over the years needs to be studied bc i remember 10 years ago everyone thought it was weird and different and bad and ugly and the anime was too kid friendly but now going back to them as an adult they're just genuinely peak pokemon

The biggest problem with Unova not having older Pokemon is that it didn't become the gold standard. Now games have 70 new Pokemon and 330 old ones and it BLOWS
