@Its_Strez Caufield has more goals then MacKinnon 5v5, power play and 3v3. On 20% less ice time. Caufield has been the better goal scorer this year, are Avs fans so insecure to admit it? MacKinnon is the better player, of course, but the rocket should obviously exclude ENGs

@Byron_D11 He’s been on his line all season, so the « away ice time » is broken lines at the end of shift and such. To be meaningful these stats need to exclude any sample <3 minutes in a game…and with those criteria Caufield has 0 ice time away from Suzuki

Caufield hasn’t scored a goal without Suzuki this year? And people keep saying he’s elite defensively but away from Suzuki, he’s been atrocious offensively and defensively. This is where I think charts struggle to give proper credit

@TheCDNrational @robcarlsonca No. I think the transfer payment formula is set up to take advantage of Alberta and shield Quebec. I'm not from either province btw. Quebec is clearly a leech on the country.

Wild idea. How about we let the provinces in green below come up with a plan to grow GDP, while the provinces in red sit quietly and take notes.

@OgieOgilthorpe0 @robcarlsonca Sure. Quebec developed it, just like Alberta developed its oil. You think Albertans are better just because oil is rarer and more profitable? Albertans need to be more humble about their wealth, humility is a quality.

@TheCDNrational @robcarlsonca As noted, AB contributes more per capita to GDP than any other province. And yes, teachers in AB likely contribute more to GDP than you do as average incomes in AB are higher than the rest of the country. You’re over your skis son, feel free to stop now.

@Sophiegrace68 @robcarlsonca Oil companies and workers in northern Alberta, yes. I own a few 100k of those companies and I make more then 98% of albertans. You think an Albertan teacher contributes more then me to equalization? If so you don’t know how the system works.

Media is gonna try to frame this as “trying to do right for Reinbachers development” but HUGE red flag that ur only other consistent RD goes down and your top 5 pick in his D+3 isn’t the only thought for a call up. This is a playoff team now. They pick call ups based on winning

Developing language story in Quebec. French broadcasting rights for the Montreal Canadiens next season have yet to be determined. In English, situation is set. You subscribe to TSN and Sportnet, you can watch all the games. In French, it’s much more complex. Sources tell @JeremyFilosa that RDS already loses $500,000 per game they broadcast, and they cannot take on the share of games they’ve had in the past. TVA Sports is also bleeding money, and they cannot pick up the slack. They may even need to get out of broadcasting games completely. That leaves streaming to fill the gap. But if the Canadiens go that route, it would put the team in a situation where English fans have it much better than French fans, both in cost and complexity. The Habs are aware this would be a terrible look. And a bigger long term question is how will Canadian broadcasters keep up with escalating rights fees as the country’s economy continues to stagnate. This is the canary in the coal mine.

@mflarand1 @strikerglows @Anthony__Koch I meant it empty because there was nobody. Like 8 to 10k in the whole st.lawrence valley. Simply not enough people to claim such a large territory. Especially since they didn’t even claim it. Saying we « conquered » them and it was « their » land is the European concept here.

The best analogy (IMO) for the Québecois as a “founding minority” if you will, are African Americans. African Americans are a minority in the United States, but they are not “one minority among others”. They are a part of the founding fabric of the nation.

@strikerglows @Anthony__Koch Québec was mostly empty. The word conquest doesn’t apply AT ALL. It was either clearing and settlement of empty lands or establishment of small settlements beside First Nations allies for commerce.

It's a rather poor analogy from a historical and modern perspective. French settlers came to Canada as an instrument of conquest. That French conquest ended with another group (the English) taking power, but they were both playing the same power game. African Americans were forcefully brought to the continent and put into slavery. They never started in an equal power position to the white Europeans who owned them. It's the difference between failed territorial conquest (completely normal and expected outcome for either the English or French) and chattel slavery where the rules were never even.

@MarioNawfal Canada doesn’t have a reserve currency to defend, and has 3 oceans defending it. There’s no country that currently has the power projection capabilities to invade Canada. Why stupidly waste our resources on aircraft and tanks that will just decay in a base.

🇺🇸🇨🇦 Canada has 34 combat-ready fighters. The U.S. has 13,000+ aircraft. 74 tanks vs 4,666. 12 warships vs 465. This is why continental defense is an American responsibility, and why NATO burden-sharing arguments aren't going away anytime soon...
