@TheCandySand

I know a lot about technology and media and it’s most of what I tweet, but don’t quote me I’m not a professional.

@PaulTassi And regarding console, pre-orders were pretty low on the PlayStation store for a call of duty title. I think this game just had no hype behind it. A real flop for a normally immortal series.

@PaulTassi It’s ass. And gamepass prices just rose too, so I imagine there’s also a lot less on gamepass. This game is going to sink an already battered and bruised Xbox

Is Call of Duty just that console-heavy or are these Steam numbers for launch day as ass as they look

@realityuk Cod desperately needs to move on from the annual release schedule. Every time they do a back to back sequel like this, the campaign is horrible. MW3 and now BO7. It’s so rushed.

It's actually impressive, I didn't realise a COD campaign could be SO bad It is by far the worst campaign ever

Genuinely something so many big AAA games struggle with is readability Things like yellow tape, waymarks, etc. are a symptom of just game worlds that are harder and harder to parse what's important because there's just so much stuff in it

@sycamoressource @Dexerto No doubt Black Ops 7 will do better than most games will, but it might be a steep drop from Black Ops 6. And with how much goes into making these games now, a 40-50% decline in YoY sales could force a major direction shift.

@sycamoressource @Dexerto I would not be so certain. The past year has proven there are no sacred cattle in the game industry. The last time Call of Duty did a back-to-back sequel (Modern Warfare 2 in 2022 into Modern Warfare 3 in 2023) it sold considerably worse. And that was before gamepass.

Ex-Blizzard President Mike Ybarra believes Battlefield 6 will "stomp" Black Ops 7 and change CoD for the better "CoD has gone downhill for years. Luckily BF will force them to change."

@TheGhostOfHope It’s so much better than 2042. Also glad they cut 128 player battles to focus on tighter maps with more destruction.

Played my first match of Battlefield 6 just now and it is without a doubt one of the the most immersive FPS games I've played in years. Amazing.

@mrpyo1 @PlayerEssence Sony is recognizing the writing on the wall and making the choice to go to PC/Switch. It’s smart, but it ultimately seals their fate. Nintendo is the only company that can charge $80 for games AND doesn’t have to put their games on other systems. They won.

@mrpyo1 @PlayerEssence Video game hardware is also plateauing, and Sony has historically relied on technical jargon to market consoles. That worked for PS5, not so much for the PS5 Pro. The PS6 will have no way to market itself outside of games (which the PS5 barely has.) Console generations are over.

@PlaviKeks @ixWebb @charlieINTEL We’ll see. The teaser has a lot of views because it was an ad, and ad views artificially inflate trailer numbers. I’m not sure if there is an authentic hype for Black Ops 7, but maybe the gameplay trailers will improve its odds.

@CandyTheMandy1 @ixWebb @charlieINTEL I do agree black ops 6 has immense hype, however the Black Ops 7 teaser is one of the most viewed on the Call of Duty YT. As well as being the first futuristic cod since 2018. It’s a pretty big deal. And i’m sure many who bought the vault edition for Bo6 would definitely for bo7

Breaking: Xbox says they will not increase game prices to $80 this holiday, instead will remain at $70 "We’re focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 – in line with current market conditions.”

@PlaviKeks @ixWebb @charlieINTEL Black Ops 6 was also black ops 6. This is black ops 7, one year after all those customers paid $100 for Black Ops 6. The last time they did this, MW2 into MW3, sales declined by 40%

@Riphade @zachansazlo @AkatsukiReese @charlieINTEL They were a lot easier to make back then, the margins were far greater. The truth is that the economics of video games no longer make sense. You either get $100 Grand Theft Auto, or you get free-to-play games with tons of micro transactions. This is just how things are now.

@zachansazlo @AkatsukiReese @charlieINTEL They were harder to make back then, plus cart and shipping costs. Now you can throw a rock and hit a developer and digital exists. It should be cheaper even.
