The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of shots fired in the parking lot of The Avenues Mall on the Southside. As of 6:45 p.m., officers have not located anyone who was struck by gunfire. One vehicle was hit. Multiple individuals at the scene have been detained at this time. There is no threat inside the mall, and people are able to move freely inside. Detectives with our Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit are on scene leading the investigation. Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking parents to come pick up their children if they’re in or around the mall.
