This is Australia and how investing now works if you choose to buy an investment property. Buy a property, rent it out. Pay Stamp Duty, Pay Land Tax. Pay Rates to councils. Maintain the property. Sell property sometime down the line. Maybe have made a profit. You can no longer claim a tax deduction via negative gearing on an existing property… So You Took the risk. & Now you need to Pay Government Tax Again. So you paid at time of purchase, you then pay tax again at time of sale, Government out no effort in other than to keep taxing you throughout the duration of your ownership, and somehow this is fair?? This is Australia.

I agree mate!! He has had a few too many head knocks and gets confused at times. If anything, in this tough times we need O&G more than anything. Instead of taxing them, give more approval for exploration and development. That would lead to more country energy security. Not everything is exported.

They're running a protection racket for the gas industry rather than standing up for Aussies. *Senators Lambie, Payman and Thorpe were unable to attend the vote for personal reasons.

Fuel excise used to be for road maintenance but now this exercise goes to a budget bucket which also funds NDIS...so basically being thrown away due to some bad actors. Reducing tax actually benefits the people who need this break like truckies or our food prices will go up. You see the picture. Fuel prices going up doesn't mean oil companies are making big money... coz cost of production has gone up because of things like (maritime insurance gone up by 16x) A bit of price gouging happens but that's due to anticipation of market trends. For example fuel servos increase price coz there is a chance they will run out of fuel meaning no revenue, but when a servo is shut, expenses continue... so owners add an uncertainty margin to sustain a business. But you must have known all that...
