"Tell me a story about when you were young, Dad." "Did you know that in high school I used to do math competitions? I showed up to school early to practice, took a lot of tests, and got to compete internationally." "Did you win?" "In one test, I got 16th place in the whole world." "That's not really winning, Dad."

@SenRandPaul You idiot. You absolute fucking idiot. The whole point was for the SC to do this. Now Roberts will look at this and think “if Congress thinks it takes a Constitutional Amendment then we can’t make the change without one.”

I am introducing a Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship. Under current interpretations of American law, anyone born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, regardless of whether the parent was here legally or not.  This is wrong and not at all the intent of those who wrote the 14th Amendment.  We are a country filled with immigrants, and legal immigration is valuable and should be protected. But we are also a country whose borders have been too open and our generosity exploited too often. President Trump has moved to seal our border from illegal immigrants more than any other president.   But we will have more to do. We need to make sure that only children born to legal residents of the U.S. are automatically citizens. I have supported protecting birthright citizenship from abuse since the beginning of my tenure in the Senate, when I cosponsored the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2011, and now I am proposing an amendment to protect United States citizenship in case the Supreme Court fails to address this issue correctly.

There should be at least 5 minutes of government mandated baby holding each year for every woman above the age of 20 and no I'm not joking.

Do you want to save your nation? Have more babies. 2-3 is no longer enough. We need to normalize 5-7+ per Christian family. Your nation depends on it. How many kids are you going to have?

This guy will fully deserve it when he’s put into a C-list senior home and gets sepsis from a Haitian “nurse” after being elder abused half to death. Our people need to learn some basic self preservation.
Brandon Doyle@Brandondoyle

This is my son. He is almost 16 and wants a vehicle. I refuse to buy him one and told him he needs to pay for it himself. He got a job as a rec basketball league referee and quickly realized how long it would take to save up enough money to get a $3k car making $12/hour. Then I showed him some cooler $6k options on Bring a Trailer and he got the itch to make more money. I gave him countless ideas to pursue. He wasn't feeling any of them. Then I decided to show him some podcast episodes from @mhp_guy (he's listened to some from Chris before and was a fan). No ideas were really hitting home until he heard an episode between Chris and @ShannonJean about reselling. He fell in love. So I showed him a few more and he was convinced that that was the route he should take. We started browsing B-Stock and then realized we need a state tax license and some other stuff so we got that all set up. Then we browsed some more. Endless deals. We settled on buying 115 rugs at an average of $13/rug after shipping. They're all Costco returns. Various sizes, some in better condition than others. He now has to figure out how to sell all these through my Facebook Marketplace account. I won't be helping him at all, other than answering questions and casually giving him strategic ideas here and there. If he can sell the rugs at an average price of $35 (keep in mind some are brand new and are 10' x 14' large), he'll make $2500 in profit. Then we can start car shopping :). P.S. Chris and Shannon - thanks for the motivation!!!

It's obvious that this war is hurting us far more than it is hurting Iran. And by "us," I mean not just the country, although the country is certainly hurting, but also Republicans' political chances going into the midterms and beyond. What a catastrophic self-inflicted wound this has been. Absolute disaster in every possible way.
(((Harry Enten)))@ForecasterEnten

Trump's numbers on inflation aren't just the worst for him ever. They're the worst I've seen for any president. They're worse than Biden's worst & worse than Carter's pre-1980 election. On the cost of living, just 9% of indies & 39% (!) of the GOP say we're on the right track.

This is such a bullish indicator. All of the dads I know in my age group are excellent fathers who go above and beyond for their families. We view our children not as a burden, but as a blessing from God that we are responsible to steward. It is a great honor, pleasure, and duty to spend more time with our kids.
Aziz Sunderji@AzizSunderji

Today's dads do 2x the childcare their fathers did. Where do they find the time? Mainly: they work less. But also: they spend less time relaxing (TV, reading, and other leisure). [1/5]

People don't realize how HUGE this is. What this means is that American Manufacturers are smashing expectations by investing in the equipment and services they need to BUILD IN AMERICA! This is about as bullish a signal as you can get...

@lymanstoneky > and parental leave ranges from zero to stingy. Lot of movement on this one recently: MN just started theirs, CO finally has theirs fully operational (and ya with budget deficits already), and MA has a pretty generous one (6 months paid I think?).

Okay but funny enough, there’s actually not that much variation in family benefits across states! State CTCs are small, childcare is similarly hodge-podge everywhere, zero have baby bonuses or child allowances (except Alaska! And it boosts fertility!), and parental leave ranges from zero to stingy. California is a social democratic state for anyone *except* parents. It’s a bizarre feature of American policy variation that literally no state ever was like “let’s become a family policy utopia.” It’s happened on a bunch of other issues! But never family policy!
Ross Douthat@DouthatNYT

1) Sasse had a Senate record of votes for family-friendly policy; 2) America has already run an experiment where the liberal half of the country has more generous social spending, the birthrate results would not win this guy his bet. x.com/fishstark/stat…

Would this mean that rich kids themselves are a "psyop"? I've met plenty of very wealthy kids, trust-funders, etc, and I've never been impressed. This doesn't strike me as any kind of a contrivance or a conspiracy. It just seems like observable reality.
robyn☦️@RRR0BYN

The idea that giving your kids generational wealth that they didn’t have to work for will ruin their personality and work ethic is a psyop to keep your bloodline from ascending.

Most people can afford kids. The reason they think they can't afford kids is because they're afflicted by class dysmorphia. The urban apartment, travel habit, premium mediocre foodways, and other lifestyle consumption is all a cope to cover for the fact that most college educated Americans are no more elite than a plumber or bodega owner. When you have kids, this illusion comes crashing down: You can afford the takeout, the vacations, the 401k contributions, but you can't afford the private schools and $1M+ home. If you acknowledge you're of the great unwashed and not a temporarily embarrassed elite, you can almost certainly afford kids by just living like your blue collar peers do.
Fish Stark@fishstark

To be clear: I’m getting married this year & am deeply, fanatically excited to be a dad! But we & many other couples my age (30) are having the heartbreaking convo “can we afford as many kids as we hoped” “they just want to play phone games” is deeply unempathetic & pedantic

@greggnunziata This is a horrific take, Gregg. Really embarrassing. Obama is a leader with a moral compass. He should speak out against every single atrocity and injustice of the Trump era and beyond. It is astonishing that you don’t see that clearly.

But even this misses the point: people asking "can we afford" to have another kid don't really want kids If you want kids, you have them and then build the rest of your life around making the numbers work And that question has more to do with mobile games than paid daycare
