But the path to making the UFC has often been paved by fighters taking opportunities against fighters who will never sniff the upper echelon of competition. It’s not a great indicator of how ready or successful a fighter will be in the UFC. Good luck to Gant tho

@JasonAmadi @kennyflorian Islam’s style is heavily predicated on his ability to chain wrestle.. so it’s Garry. I get he lost to Shavkat but that was closely contested and he is bigger than Islam. The distance control, footwork, grip breaking and straight punches and would make the biggest difference.

@Bendaman2001 A lot of MMA fans will doom anyone who hasn't performed well recently. I remember when ppl used to say that about guys like Robbie Lawler, Charles Oliveira and RDA. All guys who were deemed journeymen for years before they even won a belt. JDM is only just hitting his prime now

@ThisIsNotDSP I think it's his confidence and mechanics. He has no problem pulling the trigger with his grappling and he looks good there. But his posture when he strikes tends to be weak. Like he's half committing to the midrange rather than sitting down and fully extending his punches.

Watching this Thickness-Morales fight that I missed yesterday because some people said it was fine. Thickness really does seem to want to try and do some Volk things but he has no athleticism to him. That includes coordination. Looks very uncoordinated trying to do it.

I get why people look at the Knicks daring Dyson Daniels to take and make 3s and think he's the issue with the Hawks' half-court offense. I also watched them get good looks basically every time he played out of the pocket or set an exit screen, and dudes just missed shots.

@ZachLangleyNBA He makes rebounds which more often than not lead to fast break or 2nd chance points. His footwork and hand positioning continue to frustrate evry1 he plays. He continues to disrupt passing lanes. But ppl don’t gaf bc he doesn’t shoot well. Ppl base opinions on bets and stats now

@BenRitholtzNBA We live in a clip farming and highlight age so most ppl who don’t actually watch games are going to look at Dyson’s shooting with ATL as a problem when their biggest problem is they don’t have a 5 who can protect the rim and a coach who doesn’t send the right lineups out there.

Dyson Daniels’ shooting complicates your halfcourt offense for sure but think this is a misread of ATL’s issues: Daniels kinda tore the high coverage apart and Atlanta couldn’t make a shot. To me Jalen Johnson’s inability to create any half-court advantages is bigger issue.

Dyson's contract is a real problem. He had his best offensive game of the series today, but still — NYK can hide Brunson on him, blitz every pnr and leave him off the roll, help off him all day because he's 19% on 3P — he's one of the biggest half-court liabilities in the NBA.

@Bosslogic I’m Aussie too & have been to the US as well. I don’t agree. Mostly LA and NY. But fair enough. We both had different experiences. I feel like there’s a stark breadth of difference in food quality in the US just bc of how populated they are. I’ve had great food and bad food there
