I'm wealthy enough not to worry about the first 7 things but not wealthy enough to worry about the second 7 things yet. It feels like a happy middle ground. > 7 Things Wealthy People Don't Have to Worry About (and 7 They Do) by @wcinvestor whitecoatinvestor.com/things-wealthy…

@TipsWatch Even 3%+ is only 1% over the current yield. TIPS won't have the same experience as it went from negative to 2.x%.

Mid- to long-term real yields tend to rise and fall with nominal rates, not perfectly but pretty much aligned. If high inflation is combined with a recession (stagflation) rates might not rise much. But if the economy is strong, I could see the 10-year at 6%, real yields at 3%+. Neither scenario seems likely.

Marketwatch has a reasonable criticism of TIPS and TIPS funds this morning: The funds didn't actually protect against rising inflation as real interest rates also rose. But yields in Nov 2024 are a lot more attractive. 10-year auction today ... marketwatch.com/story/inflatio…

I see the examples of not-so-good financial planning goals were all motivated by taxes. Taxes usually aren't the cause for hardship in retirement. Paying high taxes means success. > Good (And Not So Good) Financial Planning Goals by @michaelrpiper obliviousinvestor.com/good-and-not-s…

I cashed out all the I Bonds I bought in recent years. TIPS have a better yield anyway for the long term if you get over the short-term price fluctuation. > TreasuryDirect Customer Service Delays and Estate Planning Concerns by @mymoneyblog mymoneyblog.com/treasurydirect…

Look at the compound interest formula. It matters less on a small balance, a small rate difference, and a short time. It matters more on a large balance over a long period. > When Interest Rates Matter and When They Don’t by Tyler Scott on @wcinvestor whitecoatinvestor.com/when-interest-…

I wouldn't do it on purpose. It takes too long, the amount is capped low, and it only replaces a contribution one can make otherwise. > Should You Worry About Overfunding Your 529 Plan? by Margaret Giles at Morningstar morningstar.com/personal-finan…

Wealthfront has filed to liquidate its $1.3B Risk Parity Fund. From its 1/22/18 incept through 11/1/24, the fund lost 2.8% of its value, compared to a 66.6% cumulative gain for the US 60/40 mix over that span. Not great! spr.ly/6011SeI7N
