I found out my boyfriend took out a $20,000 loan using my credentials when I tried to finance a car and got laughed out of the dealership. He actually had the nerve to argue that since we were sleeping in the same bed, my credit score was "community property." He claimed that a "real partner" wouldn't let a few digital numbers stand in the way of his dreams. I didn't argue. I didn't yell. I just waited until he went to his "investor's brunch" and called the police to file a report for identity theft and wire fraud. When the process server handed him the lawsuit, he called me screaming that I was "destroying his life" over a piece of paper. I just reminded him that if he loved "community property" so much, he’d really enjoy sharing a communal space with a cellmate. He wanted to play house with my life, so I decided to play judge with his. Some people say you shouldn't sue the person you love; I say you shouldn't steal from the person who knows where you sleep.

@KeruboSk My ex took a loan out in my name, we split up, it destroyed my credit, I didnt know about it for years (never applied for credit, always saved and bought) I paid it off but the mark was on my credit report. Didn't dare apply for any credit for years as thought I'd be refused 🤬
