Check out this fantastic work from my lab mate, Justin Korfhage @JLeonard_01! Justin demonstrates that ATG2A is capable of transporting lipids between phospholipid monolayers and bilayers and demonstrates that this activity is necessary for efficient lipid droplet regulation.
Justin Korfhage@JLeonard_01

I’m excited to finally share this project from the @TJ_MeliaLab where we demonstrate that the lipid transport protein ATG2 is active and highly efficient on phospholipid monolayers. (1/3) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Congratulations to my fantastic lab mate, @tjolivas! This compelling study beautifully demonstrates the residence of the sole transmembrane protein in the core autophagy machinery, ATG9A, on both progenitor vesicles and autophagosome membranes.

It’s out! Exactly one week after my thesis defense, I’m so happy to share our (@TJ_MeliaLab) combined effort with @PDClab and @GuptaLab1 to show that ATG9 vesicles seed mammalian autophagosomes! We’ve added some cool data to the preprint, so check it out!

Check out this fantastic study from Bulat Ramazanov and @LabVon! Bulat shows beautifully the necessity of calcium flux across the ER-TGN contact site to facilitate Cab45 mediated cargo efflux from the TGN. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New transatlantic preprint🥳! A sensor-modulator subunit directly regulates the Atg1 kinase complex during phosphate starvation-induced #autophagy. Wonderful work from @Ansa_Lina and colleagues: biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

In the absence of PC synthesis, open cup-like structures accumulate, implicating PC as a key component in the closure of autophagosomes. 3/3

In their recent article, Polyansky et al identify phosphatidylcholine (PC) as the most abundant lipid in the autophagosome membrane and demonstrate that eliminating de novo PC synthesis sharply impairs autophagic processing. 2/3

Come hear my talk on Monday at 11:15 in room 201 where I’ll share my work demonstrating ATG2A mediated lipid transport at a phospholipid monolayer, and come find my poster at B432 #CellBio2022

@mbeisen What if you paid the reviewers in APC credit? You would have to raise APC slightly, but it would incentivize researchers to review and to publish with journals for whom they review.
