@kirbywinfield Laughable those were the best athletes in the day and they still are regardless of how much nerdy little Johnny parents pay for him to sit the bench on the club team even tho they are missing a handful of the best players bc it is football/basketball season he'll never be a star

this weird nostalgia for the “before times” is funny. like back in the day in high school the same dude was the starting qb, point guard and pitcher. his friend was the starting te, power fwd and cleanup hitter. their other friend was the safety, 2 guard and leadoff man. specialization gives more kids the chance to excel. it levels the field.
Flatland Sports🌵@flatland_sports

Translation: Insane baseball parents who think their kids are going to play major league ball have ruined sports for an entire generation of kids.

Watching Johnson Wagner recreate shots has convinced me of one thing 100%: The PGA Tour should broadcast 4 regular Joes every Monday playing the tour setup. Imagine a 0,5,10,15 handicap trying to battle the blue monster tomorrow. Counting every shot.

Before the approach shot into No. 17 at Bandon Dunes that essentially won him the @PGA Pro Championship, Jesse Droemer of Riverbend CC near Houston, TX took off running. “I had to use the restroom so bad, I had to run from the tee over to the Porta Potty that was like 200 yards away. [Caddie] got the number, and I said, ‘Give me a yardage,’ and he had it, and I just stepped up and hit the shot. No time to think, just react. I do think that was one of the shots of the tournament, for sure.” Story from @JLuGolfweek ⬇️

@ryanmouquegolf Ok but what does it mean if I always play better and especially hit it better after a break? It makes me feel like I shouldn't play every chance I get which is not gonna happen

This is a really important topic for golfers to understand when it comes to improving their swing/overall game Here's a message I received from a student of mine who hadn't hit a ball in 3 days, returned home from a trip & immediately saw success whereas before, he would lose the swing for a bit before "finding it" again... This is called "SPACING" Essentially, the more time you take between shots, the more difficult it becomes to retain the thought/feel you had It's why when you go the the driving range & hit a bucket of balls one after the other in the space of 30 mins feels easy Then on the golf course, you feel like you "lose your swing". Why? Because there is more "Time" between shots, which gives you an opportunity to "lose" the feel/thought & have to find it again Not to mention on the golf course you never hit the same shot twice, whereas on the range, you do A good test to see if you are making progress with your swing is to take a few days off & see if you can still hit it good a few days later. Overall, try to include "spacing" in your practice to retain your skills better 👊

@JLucroy20 The post doesn't say the catcher sucks or that it's all his fault. Literally it does not say either thing it just says that it is insane to have those stats and it absofuckinglutely is!

First thing is that pitcher is 1.7 to plate. Hard to throw people out with that slow of a time. For those that don’t know, 1.5 is absolutely slowest time to have a chance, UNLESS you are a 1.8 on the money thrower behind the plate. Not many of those. Foot work looks solid, especially being in the one knee stance. But, he’s losing his front side a little bit. Left arm/elbow needs to be a hair more up and square toward target. Catcher is taking the blame for stolen bases but he can’t throw it until he gets it.
John Bollman@JohnBollman11

I dont know whats more insane… That a D1 ACC catcher has a 3.2% caught stealing percentage or that there are 3 catchers in D1 that are worse than him.

@vmaughan3 MLB SSs do not "get around" the ball it's an antiquated method Witt Jr. is not getting around that ball he's just picking it and making the throw maybe even from the ground to say this is a routine play is objectively hilarious

Just so we are clear. An average big league SS gets around that ball and fields it routinely for an out. JP was dead last in range for MLB SS last year and should not be playing the position in the big leagues. Diving for a ball you should be fielding routinely is not a good play
Daniel Kramer@DKramer_

It won’t go for an out, but hell of an effort from J.P. Crawford going all-glove on this one -- and Cole Young, too, who was ready for the alley-oop.

@TheHalBiz When grading a broadcast, you grade the actual broadcast. And most don’t want to watch 5 screens when they have friends over.

How did you rate the Masters CBS Broadcast this year? People are outraged this year. Basically the consensus seems to be the coverage was not good. Missed Rory’s approach shot on 18 Missed Cam’s as well Didn’t show Haotong fall apart What else?

@golfafter60 @USGA If you weren't likely to shoot 42 on the back then your index would be lower and it would give you lower likely outcome.. simple. If you want an 18 hole score play 18. If you wish your index were lower play better. Simple.

Why dislike the @USGA GHIN 9-hole calcution: Played a quick nine, shot a tidy 38. If I had played the back and shot another 38, it would have been a 5.4 differential. But I didn't - I turned in the 38, and GHIN gave it a 9.4 differential. Which equates to a score of 80.5 at my course. Which means GHIN gave me a 42.5 on the back - a 4.5 stroke increase over the front nine. Doesn't sound like "demonstrated ability" to me. 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps my favorite bit of Masters content from last week never actually saw the light of day. It was a video DM’d to me by my good friend @heweymack2449 , and I don’t want to overstate it, but it had an entire car full of dudes crying in laughter in a car ride to Augusta one morning. I present to you Brandel Chamblee saying the phrase “HOOK LIE,” as only he could, SEVENTEEN times in a span of 3 minutes

Golf is the only sport (to my knowledge) where a 16 year old and a 60 year old can theoretically compete with the best players in the world. Is there any other sport like this?

Today’s commentary. We’ve more than DOUBLED the state budget in the past ten years , even after population growth and inflation. You’re telling me we can’t come up with $8m to keep all the state parks and trails open? There’s something else at play here, especially from politicians who say they’re concerned about affordability and working families.
KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM🎙@KIRONewsradio

Washington’s spending has more than doubled in a decade. And when it came time to figure out what needed a budget cut, they looked at the trails and campgrounds that working families actually use and said: That’s the one. Full story + video from @KIROCharlie: mynorthwest.com/kiro-opinion/w…

Official grades for the 90th Masters: Course setup: B-, would have preferred to see it softer Thursday and firmed up throughout the week Coverage: F- for CBS and ESPN... not showing all the shots, not being able to track a ball... awful Masters App: A++, my go to throughout the week, had to go to it on Sunday to see what players not named Rory, Cam or Rose were doing Winner: C, wanted Rose to get it done, Rory repeating is meh, especially shooting E on the weekend Sunday: C, hard to live up to last year, too many broadcast issues, and nobody close to the lead going low On to Aronomink!

Craig Stadler took a drag off his caddies Newport after yet another bad break he caught on the back 9 here at The Masters in '82. He still went on to win the green jacket then celebrated with a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken and a 12 pack of Budweiser as he rode around Augusta in his '81 Chrysler Imperial limousine blaring the song 'Take It To The Limit' by Eagles before being dropped off at the Ramada Inn where he passed out to reruns of 'The Love Boat' with his dearly beloved wife, Sue. #HeartOfAChampion
