Haha yes. Once a young DC person said @theird was sort of 1950s Eisenhower Christian nationalist, which means civil religion, which is arguably true.

Catholicism’s public influence even amid decline is true. It’s long stood out in USA public life intellectually. Protestant/Evangelical share of population also down yet oddly it claims more public attention than in past at least politically but not for intellectual life.
