I listened to Canada's 24th Prime Minister Sunday forward guidance. It was measured, sober and aspirational. When I look at leaders around the world - case in point, the U.S. - I'm grateful to be a Canadian.
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney
During the Global Financial Crisis, when there was a real risk of panic, I developed a practice called ‘forward guidance.’ The situation we find ourselves in today demands the same. Watch the full video on YouTube: youtu.be/uk2TZwkhi4E

@TrueNorthStr0ng @PierrePoilievre You have no business experience. Literally none. I can tell. You’ve never built or managed anything in your life. You have no idea what you’re talking about. No concept whatsoever of the scale we’re talking about.
English

What other country placed blanket tariffs on the globe. Targetted tariffs are useful to protect sectors. Blanket tariffs are idiotic.
Literally anywhere else? I'm not the PM. We can diversify trade to other countries.
If we trade more with other countries (not replace) that still brings in money and business to Canada on top of the trade we still have with the US.
Diversify does not mean divest.
English

The Prime Minister’s video is another illusion.
He says he wants a permanent rupture with our biggest customer while he keeps 90% of his personal investments in the U.S.
He has doubled the deficit, negotiated no new free trade deals with any other country, approved no pipelines, and given Canada the worst food inflation, the worst household debt, the worst housing costs, and the only shrinking economy in the G7.
Fear is not a plan. We must reverse Liberal taxes, deficits, and anti-resource laws so we can be affordable, safe, and strong at home.
English

@TrueNorthStr0ng @PierrePoilievre Tariffs = “crippling us”? Every country uses them. That’s why proximity and integration matter. You still haven’t answered: where is that volume going instead? “Diversify” isn’t a plan if you can’t name the markets, industries, and path to get there.
English

@TheJDorian @PierrePoilievre I also never said "using" they are using the dependence to their advantage by trying to cripple us with the tariffs and trade war.
If you can't understand that example I'm not sure what to tell you lmao.
English

@TrueNorthStr0ng @PierrePoilievre “Diversify” with who, exactly? On what terms?
Which markets are replacing the U.S. in volume, proximity, and infrastructure?
What industries are you talking about? Energy? Manufacturing? Services?
And how, specifically, is the U.S. “using” us? Give one concrete example.
English

Apparently your plan is purposely pretending not to understand anything lmao.
It's been made very clear we need to diversify. Look at how the US is using our dependence against us.
They won't ever go away (literally nobody with common sense thinks this). But we can't afford to rely on them wholeheartedly anymore. Because of their actions.
Common sense people. Use it.

Canada doesn’t suck.
We built a country people actually want to live in, not escape from!!
You don’t get to insult us and ask for access.
That’s not leverage, that's delusion.

@CTVNationalNews Mark Carney is in way over his head. He has never negotiated anything in his life. He’s terrible at this. The only people who think he knows what he’s doing have also never negotiated or accomplished anything in their life. That’s why they fall for his act.

@chronicleherald 74% of Nova Scotians say the province is on the wrong track. A majority government managed to lose half its support in 12 months.
Tim Houston is a failure.
We need a government reform party made up of people who actually know how to run things.

About 26 per cent of Nova Scotians say the province is on the right track according to a recent poll, a sharp drop from a year ago when 53 per cent had the same view.

@DavidColetto You’re a paid liberal shill. You have no idea what conservatives think.
You’re running the same narrative as the rest of the castrated liberal men in this country. Trying to deflect from Mark Carney and the corrupt, incompetent Liberal government who pay your salary.
English

Byelections always have lower turnout. So it's worth asking, who showed up last night.
Motivated voters vote. Demotivated voters stay home.
That's likely an important signal here for how Poilievre responds.

Pierre Poilievre:
"The Carney Liberals did not win a majority government through a general election or today's by-elections. Instead, it was won through backroom deals with politicians who betrayed the people who voted for them.
While the Prime Minister spent the year on this cynical power grab, he has doubled the deficit, and given Canada the worst grocery prices and housing costs in the G7.
Liberals expect Canadians to give up, get complacent and go away, so Carney can have total power without any accountability. That will not happen. Our country and its people are worth fighting for.
We will continue to fight for people to afford homes, food and fuel.
We will continue to fight for safety in our streets.
We will continue to fight for our resource workers and soldiers.
I will continue to lead that fight every day and in every way in Parliament, across the country and in the next election, when Canadians will reclaim the country we know and love."
