@flatland_sports Instead of “no kids” we but on the invites “so and so and guest” singular, except for family (cousins and the like) still had some rsvp for their whole crew which added to an already tight guest list/budget. Kind of irked me because of the catering cost

@KensethFan17_20 @TrainWooden I’m old enough to remember “old Atlanta” being a true oval, and being at the 92 Hooters 500. 9yr old me didn’t understand what a Hooters girl was…but I liked what I saw. 🤣

@TrainWooden Bobby was genuinely one of the best ever drivers at old Atlanta. That pic of him running the high line, Gen 4 Pontiac, rubbered up track, it’s like watching the master at work

@xbradtc Same with ammo. Was doing a machine gun range at Pendleton, dry, high fire danger, so they took all the tracers out and re-linked the belts. At the end of the day with fire standing by we shot off all the tracers, started a grass fire, police called then bounced.

Once issued for training, frag grenades cannot be returned to the Ammunition Supply Point. That means that after you're trained and qualified everyone, you have to expend any leftover grenades. Yeah, real tough gig. Last time I got stuck with this was in '94.

@The_HtownHusker Busch lattes aren’t the preferred beer down there tho. It’s more of miller/bud/coors light town.

@mikejoy500 Mike, as someone who covers McBee relentlessly, including its policing conduct, you might want to educate yourself on the town’s ticketing practices before making declarative statements like this. Here’s something to get you started: youtu.be/CHigU9GrJYY?si…

Has anyone found a comp/carbon/steel toe boot that fits as comfortably as a regular boot? I have a pair of Ariats and a pair of Keens and tried on another dozen varieties.

@WMcluskey I’ve seen a pallet of compressed cardboard boxes that caught fire warp the exposed steel truss 9’ above it in a warehouse fire.

Where is this 4 inch reinforced steel as a solid plate in any of the places where the planes hit.? Notice he's ignoring that portion of it. Because if it's just columns and beams. Well, the burning jet fuel will weaken the integrity of those, especially with all of that weight of a building on top of it. Clever but one dimensional

In 2025 Boeing built 14 KC-46s in ONE YEAR. In comparison, this charts shows how many (K)C-135s were built PER MONTH from July 1957 until July 1965. Anybody want to guess what they built in June and July of 1965?

Is this song the weirdest song from the 90s? I agree this was a weird one, but there were many more on that list. What is one you remember?

My first job in radio (outside of campus station KNTU at North Texas) was at a news/talk AM station in Denton (KDNT). In 1990 and 1991 the local Nebraska alumni group in DFW bought the airtime to put Nebraska radio football games on KDNT. I was the board op for most of the games and learning play by play. And Kent Pavelka (noted below as the longtime basketball voice of the Huskers) was doing the football games then. As a young guy starting to do play by play I learned a lot from his enthusiasm, passion, energy and vivid description. And that your fan base connects to someone who has an authentic investment in the outcome for the team you’re broadcasting. I’ve done some Nebraska football games on BTN and really should’ve met up with him for a coffee or a lunch to say thanks from someone you had a positive professional influence on you never met hundreds of miles away but those football weekends are packed full of a lot of work and little time for much else. Maybe I’ll get one this year and fix that! All of this is to say I sure am happy for the folks in Lincoln and the whole Nebraska community and especially for a broadcaster who has done a lot of games with great pride in the team and community he represents. It’s a huge reward and honor to broadcast games for a college or pro sports team and represent an organization regardless of the team’s results. But it sure is nice when you get to call the historic results too 😀. Congrats to Kent and the Huskers MBB program and keep it up!

The FAA defines how much a passenger & their carry-on bags weigh as a standard average for weight & balance calculations. If I recall correctly, it’s 190 lbs in the summer & 195 lbs in the winter. Let’s say 140 passengers. 140 x 190 =26,600. In their press release, they crow about delivering 6,000 lbs of aid. If they had just chartered a cargo jet & stayed home, they could have delivered more than 4x the cargo. The aid makes up less than a quarter of what the jet they chartered can carry, after fuel. These people are stupid & unserious, but I’m sure the Instagram posts of their vacation on donor’s money will get lots of likes.
