Great news! We have just received word from the State Water Resources Control Board that the boil notice related to the recent water main break issued to Long Beach residents in the 90805, 90806, and 90807 zip codes has been canceled, due to our having proven that our water quality is clean and safe for drinking. This means, you no longer have to boil water. Effective immediately, residents and businesses are clear to safely consume water as you normally would. As a resident of the North Long Beach community, and a father of two very busy school aged children, I fully understand that the boiling water notice may have caused an inconvenience for families, vulnerable residents, and businesses. However, it was issued in an abundance of caution as a preventative measure in the interest of keeping our families safe. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, when it comes to public health. Special thanks to our @LBUtilities, @LBHealthDept , @LBFD, @LBPD, @LBPublicWorks, City Council offices, and @LongBeachCity Manager’s offices for your steadfast focus over the past two days. City crews will continue street restoration where the main breaks occurred until the work is finished. In the morning, we will continue to share this update with the residents and businesses.

#LBAlert: If you’re in the area affected by the boil water notice, we’ve set up water distribution centers at Houghton Park and Somerset Park, where you can pick up a full flat of bottled water with ID or a bill showing your address. City teams will be there to help until 8 pm every day until the notice is ended. Be sure to share this information with your neighbors if you’re affected, and sign up for #AlertLB. Questions?
