@JayManCroft Probably true but you could say that of a lot of players

@builder56207 I do think there’s a 2C there if he can stay healthy, but he’s losing runway. At worst I think he could be a dominate shutdown 3C, he has the tools if he changes his style

@Josephk90 We're back to using people at centre who aren't really centres?

Draft Watch 3.0... (White Ave Johnny)
@builder56207 The Oilers going with 3 goalies means Jones is the 12th forward. Bowman already talked about that with bob on his show. He will be in the AHL and called up for road trips/injuries. Joseph will most likely be the 4th line center with Dach and Frederic or Kane depending on what

To commit to Dickenson was to commit to a third line that will bring little to no offense. He will have to succeed in matching or this is a waste. Who will his linemates be? I can't see Howard there. It looks like the 4th line will also be low-event with Joseph, Jones. No Howard

BIG JASON ENERGY 🔋 The #Oilers have signed forward Jason Dickinson to a five-year contract with an AAV of $4.0 million.

@twa5078 You got it and that was my point. The third line is matching and the 4th line seems to be penalty killers. When the PP chances dry up, you'll be hard-pressed for secondary scoring

@builder56207 This was the downfall of the Oilers last year... Zero potential offensive contribution from the bottom-6. Leads to both 97 & 29 trying to force more offensively (and abandoning defense more) since they know it will either be them scoring or nobody.

@Josephk90 He is, yes. Since there will be no offense from the 3rd line, and Babcock will match, I wonder about a 4th line to outscore other fourth lines. But Jones and Joseph means that is not the plan

@builder56207 Howard might be in the minors to start the season if they add another forward. As of right now. I have Podkolzin and Kapanen playing with Dickinson as a checking line for babs to line match with since he is a big line matcher coach.

Ok

@builder56207 Terrible take. He’ll get his points playing alongside Kap and Nuge, he’ll also be huge for PKs. Like everyone else on this team - they’ll be given a role - live up to your role and you’ll be fine, don’t and Babs will find someone to do it.

You can't use that line to match because Kapanen and Howard both being consistently good off the puck is not a bet you should make
Ball Knower@thebauer4500

@builder56207 Howard-Dickinson-Kap is a great 3rd line. (toi 13-15 ?) Will create a mismatch when one of 97/ 29 step on, remember this is a new coach. Defensive C are valued around the league for a reason. If Howard pans out he'll give you 15G/30-40P in that role... solid rookie year!

@rangerbob94 I don't know where Nugent Hopkins fits anymore at 5on5. To play wing with Dickenson would give him a role and chance to succeed without the expectation of much offense

@builder56207 I am hopeful that he has RNH on LW and I guess Kapanen RW but there's some risk of high event wirh him. Would put Howard in the top 6 and Joseph/Jones with Dach and Frederic. Janmark to the moon and Samanski in Bako unfortunately.

@builder56207 Zero wrong from a 25-30 point rate from a reliable physical center on the 3rd line.

Topic du jour The Oilers have the cap space to add a top line forward, but do they have the trade assets?

@easternrefugee Ok, let's say Bowman did call all the TOI, don't you think it might have been influenced by the fact Brown had been signed to a three year contract?

@builder56207 Less dynamic affected his game. Brown did NOT affect his game time. AKey affected his game time. You cannot blame others instead of the player himself.

It's not just about that, though. For instance, both Brown and Akey are right-handed. Did Akey ever receive less minutes with Bakersfield because Brown was also on the team? Most likely

@builder56207 I have a feeling you have never watched a Condors game and that’s fine. But what you might be missing is that a guy like Brown might be a positive influence on the young guys. He might protect them and allow them to grow their games. He might help them learn how to be a pro.
