@bfhermann @bridget__marc I agree it matters. Perhaps by first acknowledging that environment can negatively impact one’s mental health (regardless of specialty), we can prevent this from happening to others.
English

@TheMIGSPrincess @bridget__marc It matters a lot if you want to try and prevent it from happening to someone else.
English

@bfhermann @bridget__marc Will died. Have some respect. Does it really matter which factor was dominant? If his specialty was “more taxing” would that justify his pain more to you?
English

@bridget__marc Wasn’t the person in question an ophthalmology resident? Historically that would not be considered an overly taxing residency in comparison to other specialities. Perhaps this was more of a personal mental health issue than an environmental one.

salpingectomy was associated w/ovarian cancer risk reduction by 80%; w/widespread implementation, salpingectomy has the potential to reduce ovarian cancer mortality in the US by an estimated 15%.

Talk to @louise_p_king @jfitzgeraldMD about the “double discrimination” in gyn surgical pay. We work hard to provide subspecialty care but average pay is 1/3 less than general OB/gyns and 50% of general surgeons.

Honored to receive the AAGL Foundation Jordan M. Phillips Award on behalf of @NM_MIGS. Forever grateful to my program director @magdymiladmd and the entire #MIGS division for their mentorship. Beyond proud of @luluyuMD for her coveted award 👏🏽! Go wildcats 💜💪🏽!

English

@nancynursez637 @NM_ObGyn @AAGL Exactly! Empiric Gynecologic appendectomy certainly is a tool in those scenarios.
English

@TheMIGSPrincess @NM_ObGyn @AAGL Those normal ones i have seen removed, the pain history/pattern led to the decision, agree wholesale removal not a good idea

Don’t miss Princess Urbina, MD (@TheMIGSPrincess), at #AAGL23 during her session, "Is Appendiceal Endometriosis in the Eye of the Beholder? Predictive Value of Visible Lesions in Identifying True Pathology." #NMatAAGL @AAGL #MIGS. See more here: congress.aagl.org/schedule-at-a-…

English

@nancynursez637 @NM_ObGyn @AAGL Our study revealed a 15% prevalence rate of endometriosis amongst normal appearing appendixes. This certainly doesn’t mean appendectomy is warranted for everyone, but counseling of it’s utility should be discussed with patients.
English

@NM_ObGyn @TheMIGSPrincess @AAGL Among my pt population we have seen normal appearing appendix positive for endo when removed based on pain patterns not appearance. When in doubt, take it out =

@AngChaudhariMD @UHC Complete paternalistic control over reproductive rights masked by concern for “potential regret.” What happened to patient autonomy? @UHC Please work on being advocates instead of creating insurmountable obstacles for patients and their providers.
