For ages I've been wondering what this freaking font is, because I kept constantly seeing it in Japanese gaming media from the 80s and 90s. It wasn't until in recent years when I discovered that it's called Tankoin AL-KL (淡古印 AL-KL) and it was made by Shaken (写研) in 1979.

In today's edition of "I can't believe this (mostly) worked," I "fixed" the XaviX Eyehand gloves! Went to my local craft shop and bought a couple tiny pincushions, which I taped to the gloves, then covered in the 3M reflective tape. Behold, the resulting abomination!

I never was able to get into "Caravan Boomer," an indie shmup release for MSX from a few years back, as I found I just don't enjoy the caravan style of shmup gameplay. As a result, I missed out on its amazing OST until recently. But just... listen to this! youtube.com/watch?v=BL1u8K…

@zolge1 I love the Disc Station series, especially on the MSX2. For the longest time I've been interested in making a digital issue or two in the style of Disc Station, with some small games, art gallery, a BGV animation, etc. -- all made exclusively for this magazine.

Also scored yet another MSX classic CIB recently! Like King Kong 2, this is one I owned cart-only, but emphasis on "owned," as I... got frustrated with it and sold it to BEEP, I think? ;) But I always kind of regretted doing so! Anyway, it's AshGuine 2: Citadel in the Void!

What a pleasant surprise! In 1998, Masakuni Mitsuhashi, one of the developers of Theseus (MSX), decided to remake the game and include it as one of the sample applications in "GAME BASIC for SEGA SATURN". I had no idea this even existed! It's quite charming.

@wozat It's a remake, so many things are a bit different: - Different physics - Some level designs have been changed - More in-game hint texts - More health, and some flags now also restore health - Any time remaining at the end of a level is converted into bonus score

I recently learned about the AX series for the NEC PC-6001 computer, published by ASCII in the early 80s. I became interested in the AX series after learning that "Quest: The Adventure" from AX-5 is a precursor to "Iligks Episode IV" (MSX). Time to explore the PC-6001! 🤓

@araubiMSX @bitsofbas I used the name "Iligks Episode One+ Theseus II" in my map, because that's what it says in the game itself. I'm aware of the longer title used in the LOGiN magazine and LOGiN Game Book, which is literally "Special Edition Super Difficult Version Theseus", but it's too long. (:
