Challenges to Prop 22 will be heard in the CA Supreme Court next week! If it is overturned we will have our full labor rights back - but we need regulation of pay to ensure fair rates that are enforceable by the state. We think this simple regulation will move us forward! /1

Today, tell CA Lawmakers: “I want Dignity for drivers” by signing our petition, calling for a fair minimum rate card and full labor rights for all CA rideshare drivers! buff.ly/4alYi31

@aliedboy When incentives reward speed over safety, accidents aren’t accidents—they’re predictable outcomes. Platform design choices matter.

@PramilaJayapal Most riders assume fares go mostly to drivers. The gap between perception and reality is where trust breaks — for workers and customers.

It is outrageous that on a $15 Uber ride, your driver may take home less than 5 bucks. Corporations are stealing from gig workers and misleading consumers to pad their own pockets. It’s past time to hold them accountable.

@cspsindia This is the core contradiction: platforms claim “independence” while exercising employer-level control through algorithms. Rights should follow control, not labels.

Labour Codes are being marketed as “transformational” for workers, but the fine print shows a clear rollback of protections. Key concerns include: •On social security, promises to cover unorganised, gig and platform workers are left to vague government “schemes”, with no clear legal entitlements or guaranteed funding. •The Industrial Relations Code makes union registration more difficult and restricts the right to strike, shifting power away from workers and towards employers. •The spread of fixed‑term employment encourages short‑term, insecure contracts and undermines permanent jobs, increasing fear of non‑renewal for workers who unionise or speak up. Overall, the new framework risks more precarious work and weaker bargaining power, not stronger rights or stability for labour. India needs jobs that ensure dignity, safety and security for every worker, not a hire and fire regime repackaged and sold as labour “reform”. #ScrapLabourCodes #WorkersRights

@MarathiRojgar The “illusion” is thinking security comes from employers alone. Real security is multi-faceted — and that means shifting how we structure pay, benefits, and protections

This highlights a harsh truth: many gig workers aren’t just underpaid — they’re effectively unpaid for hours spent chasing and polishing work. The system’s incentives often reward exploitation, not fair value. When unpaid labor like searching and revisions drags effective pay down to $2/hr, the “flexibility” narrative falls apart. Real gig work needs real compensation for all effort, not just billable time.

Freelancers often charge less than their value just to win contracts. A report from the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute found that workers on major gig platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, Mechanical Turk, and Appen often fail to meet basic labor standards. When unpaid work such as job searching, testing, and revisions is included, effective earnings can drop as low as $2.15 per hour. oii.ox.ac.uk/news-events/ne…

In 2025, Fiverr reportedly laid off 30% of its workforce as part of an “AI-first restructuring”. That single decision said more about the future of work than any headline ever could. The old model of bidding wars, hourly rates, and unstable income is starting to collapse. This is the gap @useCrewHive is stepping into. Not as another freelancing platform. But as a new way work gets done. 🧵🔻
