Today, I was honored to visit some of Soweto’s most historic sites. At @MandelaHouse08 I reflected on Nelson Mandela’s early activism and family life. I was deeply moved by Antoinette Sithole’s personal stories and by the legacy of her brother, @hectorpieterson Walking along Vilakazi Street with Sakhumzi Maqubela and @go2uj Prof. Letlhokwa Mpedi, I gained insights into Soweto’s rich history, its evolving economy, and the power of enduring relationships between Americans and South Africans. At Nike Shapa, I saw American excellence firsthand and how U.S. businesses are supporting future athletes and making a real impact in local communities. And at our American Corner in Soweto, I learned about the important role small business growth and STEM learning has on the economy.
