You just really wish that dems nominated some pro-business moderate named "Mark Gonzalez" at a time like this. Paxton would be the underdog if that were the case. Georgia and Arizona dems picked perfect candidates for their states with Warnock and Kelly, Tx dems are incompetent.

@asymmetricinfo @tracewoodgrains Yep. I don't understand why people would try to pick stocks. I can see investing in one stock for fun, but not as a way to make money.

@MikeMangumx @RefinedPopulist You need 5% down, ain’t really that much money. I put $14,500 down in 2022 for a house in a good school district in Cobb County at the ripe age of 25.

@TheNewClassicGA @RefinedPopulist To be fair, the down payment is substantially higher now in comparative terms, assuming a similar percent down. The biggest problem for young people now is that prices have for the past decade or so been going up faster than they can save.

Nobody denies rates were higher in the 1980s. The difference is that the median home was only 3-4x the average income. Today, the median home costs 6-8x the average income. A 10-16% mortgage on a $120k house is substantially more affordable than a 7% mortgage on a $700k house.
Richard Miscrea@MiscreaRichard

@RefinedPopulist Where do you get this false information? I bought my first house, if house you can honestly call it, in 1986. Mortgage rate was over 10.5%. A few years before that it was over 16%.

@sladesfreedom2 @RefinedPopulist I understand the raw price is more expensive, but most people did it through mortgages and it was similar then to now. I just don’t get the complaining about boomers

@TheNewClassicGA @RefinedPopulist Wrong dude In 82 ~16% rates on ~$70k median homes yielded payments eating ~37% of median income. Today, ~$420k homes at 6.5-7% still hit 30-35%+ of higher incomes but price to income ratios doubled 3x then vs 5-6x now).

@jmhorp My mom made about $550 a week and my dad $14 an hour back in 2004. $2k a week in 2026. Seeing how much she makes cleaning houses now and how much the sawmill probably pays, I’d say they’d be slightly worse off today than back then but not crazily. People need to stop exaggerating

@OnceFutureCh Every Friday my parents had date night and my sister and I ordered pizza. Roughly once a week we went out for dinner as a family. Then once or twice a week we’d get fast food out of convenience. This was normal middle class until about 6 minutes ago.

@kevsaucebro College educated white women have swung left nationwide. In Texas, it was counteracted by Latinos moving right. Georgia has blacks which will always vote Democrat so there was nothing to counteract the shift left.

@FunsoBanlow @MungoJerryLTD It’s good, just not Beatles good. The Beach Boys have Wouldn’t it be Nice, Don’t Talk, Let’s Go Away for a While, God Only Knows, I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times, and Caroline, No that hit Beatle’s level on Pet Sounds. Besides that, it’s just a good album.

That’s a matter of personal taste. I love their early surf stuff. The Beatles never employed the Wrecking Crew to play on their recordings & none of their hits lifted a Chuck Berry creation for an intro

Hey pal, I was working up north in the seismic exploration sector in 1971. I lived in a camp, worked from Oct. to April, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, and earned $1.92 an hour. Millennials wouldn’t have lasted a month up there.

@FunsoBanlow @MungoJerryLTD The Beach Boys are good but the harmonies sound muffled. Listen to the harmonies on Tell Me Why (not the 2009 awful mixing but maybe the demo on Anthology 4) or She Loves You. Smokes the Beach Boys.

@MungoJerryLTD They were only talking about the harmonies though. I'm a huge Beach Boys and Beatles fan. The Beatles harmonies regularly served the song perfectly, but I don't think it's really arguable that the Boys had better harmonies. They grew up as harmony singers and had much more range.

Conservative men need to start caring more about politics when it comes to dating. Bc a conservative man will still date a liberal woman if she’s hot and kinda nice. Then they get married and have kids and guess how she’s raising those kids? Yes you actually do need to talk politics on dates

There is a major difference in disposition between the people who consciously choose to join a movement vs those who were born into it. This is why younger "conservatives" are really better described as reactionaries. Much of the <45 crowd of "trad women" are very into health, polarity, and glamorizing the big family life not because they inherited this tradition - but because they view this lifestyle as a response to the failed culture of the left. It is part of the reason for a lot of the generational tensions within the right - it is filled with people who have been slowest to adapt to changing culture (true conservatives), and the people on the tip of the zeitgeist who are actively changing culture.
John Moody 🇺🇬@resisfertile

"I can't believe she is wearing a bikini..." Older, right wing woman with a mostly dead marriage bed, 2.3 to 3.2 children over the course of 35 years of marriage starting at age 21, with a body she hasn't cared well for in a decade or more... To a young, new rightwing mom of 29 who already has three kids, works out three days a week, is careful to get her steps in and eats well, is MAHA and has an adoring, happy husband. So much to unpack in the intergenerational dynamics right now between the old and new right, but few areas juxtapose how the new have - overall - a far better view of beauty, sex, and family - than the old right ever offered. The old right in a real sense strains at gnats on some of these issues while swallowing camels. What I mean by this is you have a many on the older right who rejected swaths of basic biblical teaching on having kids, not neglecting the marriage bed or your body, and more... you are needlessly alienating a new generation that is far more biblical than they ever were in practice.
