to me nolans joker is a perfect example of an ideal adaptation he feels different to the traditional joker while still encapsulating the essence of the character, hes an iteration that feels different to the original in a way that adds something new to the characters history

I’m very disappointed that Emily Wilson falls into the trap so many fans of a written work fall into: judging the adaptation for what they wish it were rather than for what it is. At no point does she try to understand the intentions of Nolan, she’s just frustrated that she didn’t get the adaptation she had imagined.

Emily Wilson is certainly entitled to criticism of The Odyssey. But that quote is pretty laughable to me. You can say a lot of things but the idea that it has nothing to say about war and coming home is seriously comical.
