@mightydudbolt Good take. It was darker in tone than the first one. Which surprised people because sequels used to just be money grabs. That they took it in a new direction and it wasn’t as light and fun kind of gave it the rep of being dark. Also it was 1980. Things were different.

The Empire Strikes Back is "dark" in comparison to the previous and following films, but it is still an adventure movie for adolescents that is designed to be fun. Its reputation in this regard has been wildly exaggerated over the years. It is much, much closer to Return of the Jedi in tone than to something like Andor. I think this has to do with the tendency for insecure Star Wars fans to insist that their interests are adult rather than childish. Empire is seen as validating the idea that the series was actually gritty and mature, and getting more so, until Lucas ruined it by "selling out" with Return of the Jedi. For these fans, Empire is the Promised Land to which they are perpetually trying to return. Star Wars, in its ideal form, ended there in 1980, and then turned into something for babies. Andor, in their minds, represents what Star Wars should have become long ago. It should have "grown up" with its audience--that is, them specifically.

@dustyslay I think that’s true to a degree. But as I understand it, they also don’t have to legally list the same amount of ingredients in other countries. But I do believe that they do make healthier versions.

I just finished shoveling my driveway. Took me 90 minutes. My back is killing me, and I have to drive to work now. My neighbor has a snowblower. He did his driveway in 10 minutes, then offered to do mine. I told him no thanks, I like the exercise. Real reason? If he does my driveway once, I owe him. Next thing you know, he's asking me to "take a quick look" at his computer because "it's running slow." I don't do free IT work. Not for family, not for neighbors, not for anyone. Last year, this same neighbor asked me to help him set up his printer. I told him I'm a "network architect" and I don't work with consumer hardware. He looked confused. I said, "It's like asking a heart surgeon to check your kid's scraped knee. Different skill set." He hasn't asked me for tech help since. So yeah, I'll shovel my own driveway. A sore back is temporary. Becoming the neighborhood Help Desk is forever. Boundaries aren't rude. They're strategic.

It kinda sucks realizing that being anti-AI is the losing position and that the masses are consuming and adoring AI generated Star Wars content and will watch AI Mark Hamill forever and love every minute of it

Return of the Jedi Special Edition change: In the original version, Han is knocked overboard and dangles impossibly from the skiff before Chewie grabs hold of him. In the Special Edition, we see that Han's boots were fortunately snared in some rigging.
