IMO there is a very clear top3 of Sorokin, Swayman, and Thompson. Conversation should end there (for now)
Could maybe argue Wedgewood at 4, but Vasi, Lyon, Shesterkin, Greaves all have a strong case for #4

Last thing on the Wedgewood Vezina conversation (for now). Not to win it just be mentioned. The last goalie to lead the NHL in goals against average AND save percentage at the end of the season was Linus Ullmark in ‘22-23. He won the Vezina.

Oddly, the NHL failed to note the contact from the defenseman that preceded goalie contact, when in fact, they have used that as a guide.

The decision was made under Rule 69.1, which states in part, “Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal.”

@AvsSparky 9th in goals saved above expected. Which IMO is far and away the best way to judge a goalie since sv%, GAA, and wins are heavily influenced by the team.
Also, workload really matters. He’s played 20-25% less than these other guys.

@ProducerDrew_ This is exactly what happened last year. PP struggled early. Traded for Necas and was instantly better with MacK and Necas moving around. Then went back to same ineffective stagnant shit for the playoffs.
Hopefully they learned from this and don’t go back again these playoffs.
