@galactico_ball @ESPNFC It's almost as useless as posting a reply pointing that out (or me posting a reply to that reply). Social media = where cognitive dissonance is 👑

@grantpaulsen He didn't play at all in the preseason. For a 2nd year player that's actually HUGE. The first two games looked like he was playing slow bc of this. He was way more in sync last week after getting game reps to get his timing back in rhythm. That is the story, plain and simple.

What do you guys think of ESPN analyst Seth Walder’s take that Jayden Daniels may be showing signs of regression early in 2025?

@hiringandfiring @FathalliMo His biggest weakness in my opinion is that he turns the ball over (the few times he does) in very vulnerable places. He sometimes doesn't make the easy pass when a defender has the better of him.

The way Pedri influences opposition players with fake micro actions to then find and execute solutions on his own is simply unreal. Tiny fake steps to manipulate, quick touches to “freeze” players, never giving away his real intentions. Master of Puppets.

@MrChickSports @grantpaulsen @MrChickSports I respect the hell out of you, but this is way off. Moore came out of that break at a reasonable speed, sprintin might have led the pass into the other safety. He was settling into the proper window. Delivered properly, he'd have leverage on the breaking safety too

@grantpaulsen Would be good to run the route properly too. All yall ( who never played the game - Ode to Ryan Clark ) have to know he didn't come out of the break at speed. He made plenty of bad throws but I'm gonna bet the WR coach will drill that route this week

@grantpaulsen @KirshnerJacob They made 1 mention of Carbery improvin goal scoring, revivin Ovi's offense, & developin Protas/McMichael. A slight nod. They were clueless about the offside review (speculated about GT interference). U could see the tablet refs were lookin @ on the TV feed whch showed the line🙄

It’s hard to get me annoyed with broadcasting bias. I think fan bases make up their gripes in that regard mostly. That said that period on ABC was like a Rangers home call. It’s all about “how they save their season.” All convos through their lens. Um, the Caps are the best story in hockey and OVI’s having an astonishing year. Maybe a mention or two?

Another Lydian Stone Nice effort but I cannot resist correcting a v. serious flaw in reasoning: Max heart rate does not map to "biological age" except for v. large populations. Visually I can see it it is >90% idiosyncratic ("genetic"). Beware metrics-driven neurosis.

@nntaleb @bryan_johnson Furthermore, what kind of an "intellectual" laces every interaction w/ an undeserved sense of arrogance. A person approached u w/ a comment that was supportive. Instead of correcting him (if u had to) w/ some semblance of humility u chose this route. U truly are a pathetic person

@bryan_johnson Looks like you didn't understand much from Skin in the Game. It states that we are not supposed to be immortal; only our genes. This is aside from, in my general work, the contempt, perhaps even disgust I have for your brand of non-stoical neurotic overoptimization.

@nntaleb @bryan_johnson It doesn't take a lot to draw contempt/disgust from you...your contempt is so cheap and even borderline arbitrary in the way that it's doled out that you shouldn't lob it around as an insult. It's actually a mark of someone who is actually doing something of substance.

@amandalouise416 @VivekGRamaswamy Investment in education... 🤔...If only there was some sort of governmental agency we could set up and invest in. Maybe some sort of need based system to pay for tuition for the best and brightest regardless of their ethnic background. If only we could pay for that somehow tho...

The U.S. Needs Investment, Not Blame. America doesn’t need to “wake up” from a culture of mediocrity it needs investment in education, workforce development, and equitable hiring practices. The U.S. has always thrived on diversity and innovation, and the solution to global competitiveness lies in strengthening these values, not dismantling them. Your rhetoric perpetuates a harmful myth that Americans are inherently lazy or unmotivated, a claim that is untrue and deeply unpatriotic. Worse, it enables companies to continue violating the law by giving them cultural justifications for illegal practices. America’s tech dominance wasn’t built on conformity or shame; it was built on creativity, diversity, and bold ideas. Rather than attacking the culture that has produced countless world-changing innovations, let’s focus on the systemic changes needed to ensure fair treatment of all workers. Holding employers accountable for their exploitation of visa programs is the real challenge, not blaming American workers for a problem they didn’t create.

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
