the @NewConstructs Core Earnings Leaders Index (BCORET:IND) beat the S&P 500 by 900bps in 2025, up 27% vs SPX up 18%. There is real alpha in our proprietary footnotes data and power in the AI we use to collect the data automatically! Proof is in performance.

should be obvious by now, but OpenAI and Anthropic are just gonna keep cannibalizing all their biggest customers. it’s simply too profitable for them to resist. and it’s already happening: 1. Figma partnered with Anthropic on AI design tools. then Anthropic’s product chief quit Figma’s board, and 3 days later Anthropic launched Claude Design to compete with Figma. CEO Dylan Field said Anthropic was “not consistently candid.” 2. Novo Nordisk uses Claude to help develop drugs. now Anthropic is developing drugs of its own. 3. Microsoft poured billions into OpenAI. now OpenAI is building a Jobs Platform to compete with LinkedIn, and reportedly a code repository to compete with GitHub. Microsoft owns both. 4. Harvey uses Claude to sell AI contract analysis, due diligence, and litigation tools. now Anthropic sells those same workflows through Claude for Legal. 5. Intercom used OpenAI’s Realtime API to build Fin Voice. now OpenAI sells its own voice-and-chat support agent through Presence. 6. Abridge and Ambience build clinical documentation products on OpenAI. now OpenAI sells ChatGPT for Healthcare directly to hospitals with clinical documentation built in. 7. Benchling uses Claude to power its biotech R&D platform. now Anthropic sells its own scientific workbench through Claude Science. the frontier lab playbook is simple: 1. sell their models to the world’s most valuable businesses 2. help wire them into those companies’ most valuable and sensitive work 3. map the business from the inside and find where AI can take over 4. turn those capabilities into their own products and become the customer’s competitor

I think this is massively underappreciated. LLMs still generalize surprisingly badly. A teenager can learn to drive with maybe 30 hours of practice and then handle roads and situations they have never seen before. An AI system needs an absurd amount of driving data (like trillions of hours!), simulation and edge cases to achieve the same reliability. And this is true in basically every field. Coding, biology, finance, healthcare, office work. As long as models cannot generalize from a few examples like humans do, we will need gigantic amounts of high quality, task-specific and verifiable data just to teach them what we consider basic work. Compute gets most of the attention, but data is just as important and it's getting more and more expensive.

the extent to which AI progress is data bound is under appreciated by most

Warsh is a smart guy, so I'll give you with a "charitable explanation" for his apparent cowardice: He *knew* the 10 & 30-year rates would spike if he did nothing, so he got the MEANINGFUL rate increases he wanted without pissing off the clueless dummy who apppointed him.

Gavin Baker: "which AI company actually survives? Google - already multi-trillion Microsoft, OpenAI, Meta chose open source - the only ones left is xAI and Anthropic - xAI + X will be worth over a trillion" this is him explaining what he actually invests in - and why Taiwan sells sand to Nvidia for $700 that Nvidia sells for $50,000 His words: what to invest in: "we're investing in things that increase the GPU utilization rate - because if you take a GPU from 30% utilized to 60%, you've doubled the output of that AI factory" what not to Invest in: "the models will basically go to zero - the data center is a commodity - energy might be short for a while but is also a commodity - the only thing in the whole stack with real value is the data moat and reinforcement learning" "the GPU has gotten 50 times faster in the last four years - that's a big part of why we're living through this AI revolution" he doesn't rent intelligence - he owns the thing it runs on bookmark & watch - see how below with local agent ↓

Open weight Kimi K3 performs at Claude Fable 5 level on 3D arcade games! We gave both models the same prompts: ✦ Pac-Man with four hunting ghosts ✦ Nokia Snake remade in 3D ✦ Retro space pinball table with real physics Outputs (thinking included): ✦ Kimi K3 (local, 8x B300): ~237K tokens, $0 ✦ Claude Fable 5: 92K tokens, $4.50 Every one of Kimi's tokens was free on our GPUs. Even via Moonshot's API the same Kimi run would be $3.60, still under Fable. Kimi held its quality against the strongest cloud model. Its snake is the liveliest scene of all six: soft shadows, floating dust, a flicking tongue, and a bot that checks it can still reach its own tail before every move. Fable's snake plays clean but looks flat next to it. Pac-Man is the closest call of the three. Kimi builds a fresh labyrinth on every restart and draws a live minimap in the corner while the red ghost tracks the player turn by turn through the corridors, and it even caught our bot on camera. Fable's maze answers with pearl pellets, +10 popups bursting over the floor and a wide-eyed cartoon ghost patrol. Fable won the pinball table: painted playfield art, a chrome ball that mirrors the neon lights, even little synth sound effects.

@gnoble79 See you and @GordonJohnson19 working together is great. You guys are both OG bears on Tesla. I have to admit, it is good to see the narrative finally unravelling. The numbers out of Austin are absurdly poor. Waymo add 4 million driverless miles per week!

Tesla's entire valuation rests on a robotaxi business the company's own data says is worth $840 million. And the stock is still priced for $700 billion… Once FSD actually launched in Austin, the clock started, and the real numbers arrived: 380,000 unsupervised miles that imply a total addressable market a THOUSAND times smaller than the roughly $700 billion the market is pricing in. Gordon Johnson of GLJ Research has been calling this while the crowd keeps paying for the hype story, and in my latest interview he lays out exactly why vision-only autonomy without LiDAR was never going to clear the bar. We get into the SpaceX merger math, the free cash flow bleed, and the liquidity drain coming as Treasury issuance pulls capital straight out of the banking system. THE CRASH WILL BE EPIC: @georgenoble/note/p-208837208" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@georgenoble/n…

Warren Buffett says he could collect 20 to 40 billion dollars a year from government bonds without taking any risk, and that is the number he holds AI spending against: "AI companies, you're putting out huge amounts of money. And I can put huge amounts of money into government bonds and get, you know, 20 or 30 or 40 billion dollars a year in terms of payments from them." "So a good business is one that earns a lot more than, and has prospects of continuing to earn a lot more than the returns on essentially riskless investments, which you could define as Treasuries." "But if you take something like American Express, you know, most of the banks earn 13, 14% on capital." "But it's so different that it earns 30% plus on capital, and it does not incur more risk in doing so than the banks that earn 13 or 14%." "And the trick in life is to find, I mean in investing, is to find businesses that are going to earn high returns on capital for an extended period of time." "A long period of time gets to be very important because those doubles later on are very big numbers." That is a hurdle rate, and you can hold the next AI capex announcement against it the same day you read it. His second condition is the harder one. Earning high returns for an extended period means somebody has to show the returns will hold, and almost every number that would show it for AI is published by the company doing the spending. When the entity being measured also runs the measurement, what you are reading is marketing. Buffett has been able to check American Express against decades of audited filings. There is no equivalent for an AI model yet, and building it is the whole job. - Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, on CNBC (@CNBC).

Remember that computers have no common sense. For example, a computer could easily misconstrue the fact that people wake up in the morning and then eat breakfast to indicate that waking up makes people hungry. I’d rather have fewer bets (ideally uncorrelated ones) in which I am highly confident than more bets I’m less confident in, and would consider it intolerable if I couldn’t argue the logic behind any of my decisions. A lot of people vest their blind faith in machine learning because they find it much easier than developing deep understanding. For me, that deep understanding is essential, especially for what I do. #principleoftheday

If you can do that, you will take the power of your decision making to a whole other level. In many cases, you will be able to test how that principle would have worked in the past or in various situations that will help you refine it, and in all cases, it will allow you to compound your understanding to a degree that would otherwise be impossible. It will also take emotion out of the equation. Algorithms work just like words in describing what you would like to have done, but they are written in a language that the computer can understand. If you don’t know how to speak this language, you should either learn it or have someone close to you who can translate for you. Your children and their peers must learn to speak this language because it will soon be as important or more important than any other language. #principleoftheday

The disclosure by $TSLA on their 2Q conference call that they had completed 380,000 unsupervised Robotaxi miles over the past year was a stunning admission, and the likely reason for the stock’s big decline over the past two days.

Per @coalfire "@OpenAI took a page out of @AnthropicAI's book: "Whoa, look how powerful our model is," while saying "our bad" out of the other side of their mouth. It's a real incident dressed as a capability ad with an apology stapled to the front. shorturl.at/sU6Vg
