@graildoteth @0xTack @warofnova If I had to bet on an outcome I agree that is most likely the path it takes. Which is just so frustrating because they actually did the hardest part really well they built a game people play for fun and the first question isn't how much can I make playing this game.

The story of Revolving Games is that they have no business being in web3. They came to web3 to raise money to build what amounts to a web2 series of games. Mark my words here. They will basically rug the token and just push out their gaming products into web2 with no utility or tie back to the token. Any revenues made there will be kept by the team and will never go back to the token or the NFTs. Basically raise from web3 for web2 and rug on the web3 side. Thanks for playing. I'd like to be wrong, but seeing how things are going, this is how the story is playing out. Only positive thing here is the team have ruined their reputation and burned so many bridges, they can't come crawling back to web3 for another raise. I'd love to be wrong here, but yea, that's probably the story that's going to play out. I'd have to see some strong evidence soon with real product launches that strongly link back to the web3 side for me to change my view.

Games should prob start actually building games instead of directing all time and resources into farming vanity metrics. We all know all these vanity metrics does not translate into anything real.

Oh I have written off the token... Ameer blocked me when I asked what the plans were post tge. Not sure the amount now with staking rewards but have 10s of millions of what I have come to acceptance will most likely be another delisted gaming token.... But the game is actually really good and the devs have been getting more active in the discord with the community. They said token integration would be coming in season 3 which starts Next week but have yet to hear about that from the Revolving team side of things. Once we move on that tokens need to be a thing, when it comes to why gaming can benefit from web3. That is when we will see more success stories.

I have very little faith in the Rcade team. They basically rugged every single community member with one of the worst TGE launches ever and have done nothing since. What's the story for them now? Their 1e NFTs are selling for .04 and there is almost zero demand. The token is at a 10M FDV. They literally raised millions at 75M and 120M not to mention fucked their poor community lured into spending $ to earn an airdrop, at about a 250M FDV. There have been literally crickets since the founder crashed out and basically went into hiding. The token almost 4 months post-TGE has the same utility as a Solana memecoin. What sort of comeback is possible here, when everyone in the entire space thinks the team soft rugged? This was made 10x worse because the CEO frequently went off the rails on his X account, bull boasting how smart and successful he was and talking up a big game then delivered one of the biggest fails in web3 gaming history. There is no chance of a comeback here for the token at this point. The one slim chance would be Skyborne is actually a fun web2 game is a hit and they find some clever way to integrate the token into it and channel that demand to the token and a new narrative. But seeing how badly the team have fucked everything up, I see little chance they have the ability to execute

Game like @warofnova is one that still gives me hope because you have web2 gamers coming to play it on word of mouth. As you know they could not have handled the web3 side of things worse but if they would integrate some ownership to the ships and officers and get with @ProofOfPlay and use the marketplace api tools they have built. That is where web3 and gaming will succeed. Fun game people enjoy playing with each other and being able to buy or sell assets they earn.

Requires the ability to actually build a game that can cut it in web2 as a game you would want to play, with zero incentives. And there are very very few of those so far that are actually live (not in some closed beta) and publicly playable Let me throw a few of the better examples: @PlayWildcard @project_o_gg Off The Grid, though the tokenomics are terrible @playRIFTSTORM, though it looks like the web3 side has pretty much been shuttered. Good game though outside of that to play with frenz Years and that’s what we have so far.

Totally agree. The past three year play to earn and token launch cycle ruined the idea of what web3 gaming was supposed to be about. Goal should be build a genuinely fun game where players own their in game assets. Web3 gaming doesn't need tokens and tges to be successful. @DroegeDaniel any room in your YMIR guild about to hit level 30 tonight and still can not find a good English speaking guild.

Yes, to me, the value of a game token does not matter as it is just a medium of exchange. Our dollars are constantly losing value, but the value of the items they purchase are not so prices increase. It is the same way in games. A weapon is $50 regardless of if that is 1 or 5,000 tokens.

The optics are poor, looks like team-painted liquidity.” “Launching stealth on a questionable ecosystem is a dire look. That’s the part that stings the most. Most of us here have already lost so much money betting on gaming, and yeah, the financial side sucks but that is on us. This felt more a bet on the team vs just gaming and to see them not even try to keep the NFTs alive in the ecosystem that’s what really hurts. I even proposed turning the Pirates into a gaming guild and be the mascot for POP with a name change to Pop Pirates, but they just didn’t want to deal with NFTs anymore. After three years of playing every day, giving feedback, and being part of the journey, it’s the time that feels like the biggest loss. I watched a seven figure Pirate position turn into five figures, and I still can’t wrap my head around it. It’s hard to accept that something we poured so much passion and belief into could just fade away like that.

Yea. What turned me against the team was the fact they knew how things were going to go down (bail in the game, shit the nft, depreciate the pop incentives) well before the announcement happened but they continued to hype up the token, pop, the NFTs. Or the let the narrative continue knowing everyone was going to be thrown off the cliff. That was some cold calculus and undermined the entire culture and trust they spent years cultivating. It’s hard to trust anything they will say or do after this because what are promises from a team that do such a thing?

@TheOG_General @fern They didn’t want to deal with a community anymore. You’ll hear “pivot” and “focus on the token,” which I get, but they didn’t have to kill the NFTs and community to do that. They just didn’t want the community part, and if you check Discord… they got exactly what they wanted.

Dropped 52 ETH (NFT) & 200K USDT into @PirateNationXYZ $Pirate after meeting the founder @fern thought we were building something real. 9 months later they nuked the NFTs, gave me 91,055 $PIRATE worth $1.2K ($23 each) for all 52 NFTs 🤡 My $PIRATE bag from 200K → 18K. @icobeast you were hired to hype this, where’s the accountability? If going to add more game types next year you should try a format like The Eliminator on UD. One of the best sweats during the season and being able to buy or sell teams would really make it interesting. Only 1.5% of the field is left going into this week so the EV of a live team right now is over $400 on a $10 entry but if you lose this week only make $52. Format is Week 1: 6 of 12 advance and from week 2 on it is h2h matchups to advance.

I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone Despite being a creator and making videos every day, I actually don't like promoting myself I'd rather uplift others and champion the space, and I want my work to speak for itself However, this is an important award, and it would mean a lot to me and the people rooting for me I feel I owe it to myself and the people who believe in me to give this my all So I will be officially campaigning this year and doing my best to take home Content Creator of the Year Like every year, the competition is steep, and there are a bunch of creators who deserve to win I am rooting for them as much as I'm rooting for myself Ultimately, this is a celebration and recognition of everyone's hard work, and I invite everyone to come together and to champion each other Win or lose, I really appreciate every single person in this space, and I'll be happy for whatever happens Let's have fun and let the games begin <3

I've seen my share of web3 projects failing their community badly, yet in one single and brutal fell swoop, @PirateNation (now @ProofOfPlay ) has just delivered THE pinnacle master class in how to transform your NFT cult of fanatic supporters into a horde of raging maniacs frothing to do crime to your brand. For the record, I don't believe they are bad actors or were trying to fuck over the community. They were backed into a corner and fumbled on how to make a smooth transition. But what a fucking fumble it was man. A quick scroll through the PirateNations discord and you see plenty of the following: Now I don't think I've seen public expectations for a promising legit project with top backers get rugged on so badly, at least not since that time in Mexico City where I raided the world's best taco stand, on the behest of a tequila-fueled 2am doom-scrolling of TikTok recommendations, only to find out that yes, it is in fact possible to sh*t out your own intestines in literally just 12 hours. So what did it take to turn a fanatic cult of NFT PirateNation holders who could teach a trick or three to the local Jehovah Witness door knockers about belief and conviction into an antagonistic horde that wants to demolish your brand? This right here: By offering a take it or leave it $50 USD buyback of 1700 $Pirate if you forever burn the NFT. Or a flat zero if you don't and an NFT worth right now as much as a used cat litterbox. The team clearly misread the room on how to transition the community into the next thing. Clearly the next thing is not a pat on the back, a ode to the holders, and payout that post Covid won't buy you a dozen Crispy Creme donuts. Seems community is in fact not at all happy to burn their formerly $1000+ USD genesis nfts for a mere $50, given the NFTs were trading between $500 to $2000 literal days ago (.05e-.4e) and had peaked around 2e early last year. To be clear, the team were in a difficult spot and needed a pivot. The entire roadmap ($POP token, token utility, playable assets, etc) was pretty much ripped to shreds, leaving all the expectation debt by holders and stakers in a hot mess. But pivoting by rapidly torching your entire NFT ecosystem has been costly to the holders for sure. Look, I understand the reasoning behind shutting the door on the failing core game (100k USD per month it was costing to keep running, burning through the team's runway) AND ditching the nfts to free up bandwidth to build a better future without community debt and all that, but the whole thing could have been handled with grace and it wasn't. As a former NFT bag holder here, and someone who has been supportive publicly, I have to come out and call a spade a spade, and a shitty move a shitty move. The team wronged their community here, and pulled a move that many would look at and in fact start using words like rug. If not an actual rug (I don't believe so), certainly a rug on holder expectations. And for fuck sakes I still hold over 1.7M of staked $PIRATE. I staked it for exposure for $POP, which appears to no longer be on the roadmap, at least any time soon. The value of my $PIRATE bag has bled from $400k to <50k at this point in just 15 months. So yea, I have a vested interest in seeing the team do well. But I also feel deeply for all those guys who came in, bought into the NFT ecosystem believing the nfts were going to be 'premier assets' only to find out that words have many interpretations, and what a web3 team says and what a web3 team means when they say what they said are not necessary the same thing at all. It's not every day you actually witness a team who cultivated a community for neigh on three years only to demolish the entire effort overnight by taking a meat grinder to their holders. Pivot if you must, but fully pivoting from community-is-first brand to community-is-fucked brand ain't how to do it folks. I mean, if anything, there is a teachable lesson, or cautionary tale and all that about the power of community, and how it's possible to transform it into a weapon against yourself if mishandled. Because the best hugs, I mean rugs, come from your best friends, not your foes. A painful lesson that the PirateNation community is currently learning. Gaming is tough, the toughest niche in crypto to crack right now. I get it. Everyone tied to crypto gaming is on life support. Friends become enemies, supporters become fudders, and holders play Squid Games against their own project founders, competing for shriveling liquidity. Pivots happen and are necessary. In gaming, I'd say failing at your first effort seems to be pretty much a requirement at this point. But if you pivot, do bring the guys who were there from the start, who backed your efforts and empowered you. Better to grow with your community than grow against them, which has played out here. I hope the team find a way forward and bring their holder base with them into future efforts. I realize the entire Proof of Play ecosystem is probably only going worth anything at all to bag holders here if the team manage to kick out some revenue positive web2 games and bring that value back to the token and the NFT holders who have literally had all value torched. The team needs to make things right with their holders and find a better way forward. For myself, I'm going to probably my Pirate bags (I don't feel there is much point dumping right now for pennies on the dollar) and hope the team can build their way out of the hole they dug themselves into.

I’ve seen enough. Our industry is cooked right now. While so many great teams are onboarding massive brands, shilling great products, and exposing crypto to millions, we would rather focus on ‘creator capital markets’ aka lining the pockets of people with 50k+ followers and no desire to actual do anything to further the space. Not a single retail investor wants to support this shit. Right now all the liquidity on CT is just being funneled to a few larps that engagement farm the timeline then find new ways to use their followers as exit liquidity. It’s actually a joke.
