@AzeemRafiq30 Bethell absolutely has a higher ceiling but jacks is more ready now which is what England need. Deepen the batting with a seasoned pro who has made big runs against good attacks

2-2 at home v Australia 4-1 defeat away v India 2-2 at home v India Crickets a game of fine margins & six more runs would see a different narrative. But four years in BazBall has given us many great individual test wins but no marquee series win of the sort that defines eras.

The scrutiny over Ollie Pope isn't entirely unjustified, but I think today gave an indication that dropping him for a bloke who, while highly talented, has only played 25 First Class games & never scored a professional ton isn't the obvious choice as sometimes made out.
