Wife went away for a week with friends. On the first night on my own I spent ages making the bed. I ironed the sheets and did it so perfectly well that it looked instagramable. I spent the week sleeping on the couch so I didn't spoil it.

I've automated a process at work that a colleague had been doing manually because they are on annual leave and I could not be arsed with it. How this affects their employment when they return might be awkward.

@fesshole Thirty years ago, while a colleague was on leave, I cleared and dealt with everything on his desk. While also doing my own job. He was horrified. This is what is wrong with the civil service in the UK, and why I left, almost 30 years ago.

@thealastairw @fesshole No, that is what was wrong with the specific area of the specific department you worked for, 30 years ago. You literally have no insight outside of that very limited scope and it is damaging to imply that inefficiency is systemic based on your experience.

@fesshole Complete amateur. As someone who has been in thousands of homes due to my job the technique is a pre paper lining for no marks at all.

I would rather spend 10 minutes with the shower head gently hosing skids off the pan than touch the toilet brush

At work I send annual leave dates to my manager's calendar then book them off on a separate system. I often "forget" to book them on official system. I gained 6 days extra leave last year. Have had about 25 extra days off in 8 years I'm not sure how much further to push it.
