It’s NURSES APPRECIATION WEEK! Thank you to the brilliant RNs in our anthology, like Katherine Flores Guzman, who wrote the stunning essay, "It's Not That." Guzman is a nurse practitioner & writer with special interests in underserved communities & public health research. She believes in the power of language to foster empathy, create healing spaces, and honor the communities that shape us. Her writing has appeared in Calendula Review, Auxocardia & Yellow Arrow Journal. Thank you to RNs everywhere who take care of us. #nurses #powerofnurses @ANANursingWorld @ICNurses @MedscapeNurses #NursesWeek #NurseTwitter #MedTwitter

Who Needs to Know When You Get Admitted to the Hospital? Inspired by the Boomer Hospital Reveal, Reader's Digest asked experts if there are any hard-and-fast rules when it comes to sharing your medical news. Two of the contributors to Where It Hurts are quoted in this informative feature by journalist Tara Cox. @ThisIsTaraCox rd.com/article/etique…

BOOK REVIEW Today go to your local indie book store for Grace Farris’s "See One, Do One, Teach One," a memoir about becoming a doctor. It’s timely -- enrollment in med schools is up. After the pandemic, a few years of decline & a dip in med-school applications, people want to go into medicine again. AAMC reported last December that enrollment topped a record high of 100,723 in 2025 (based on data from the 2025-26 application cycle); women "accounted for 57.2% of all applicants." Apparently, 2019 was the first year when more women than men were enrolled in medical school; numbers have only increased. It's funny, honest and insightful, too. #graphicmedicine #narrativemedicine #seeonedooneteachone
