"James Bashford’s Nature Within: How the Natural World Shapes Our Minds, Bodies and Health (Pelagic, 2026) is an ambitious, unsettling and quietly demanding book. It carries the force of a moral imperative—but its call to action begins, paradoxically, with mindful attention." So begins the review by Tony Errichetti of James Bashford's book "Nature Within: How the Natural World Shapes Our Minds, Bodies and Health" Read more @The_Intima @wrenandbee @pelagicpublish @NMindworks #narrativemedicine #medicalhumanities #medicalhumanitiesandhealthstudies #medhum #nmed #healthcare #nursing #medicine #healing #health #healthcareprofessionals #wellness #storytelling #premed tinyurl.com/intima-review

When a doctor becomes a patient, we witness a different kind of illness narrative: one that opens up the 'clinical encounter' in a whole different way. Lucky for us as patients and lucky for clinicians too, @RanaAwdish opens our eyes + minds once again when her new book "After Shock" comes out in June. Honored to have her essay in our new anthology too!

She is already a legendary voice in clinical and literary circles—those who want a taste of her superb writing must read Rana Awdish's "In Shock" now 👏👏👏👏👏 and pre-order "After Shock."

HONORED TO MEET ANOTHER BRILLIANT WRITER IN OUR NEW ANTHOLOGY at #AWP26! Katherine Flores Guzman, whose short essay "It's Not That" always stuns me with its subtlety, is a nurse practitioner and writer with special interests in underserved communities and public health research. She believes in the power of language to foster empathy, create healing spaces, and honor the communities that shape us. Her writing has appeared in Calendula Review, Auxocardia, and Yellow Arrow Journal. We humbly ask everyone to pre-order our anthology and dip into each chapter to experience these powerful poems, essays and short stories culled from our archives. Thank you, Katherine, for stopping by the @narrative_medicine panel on the final day of this year's AWP.

BRAVO BALTIMORE! A truly rewarding experience at #AWP26 in "Charm City," hearing talks by John Waters and Katie Kitamura + panels by writers such as Laura Lippman + scholars/novelists such as Sayantani DasGupta. Plus meeting writers whose work is in our new anthology "Where It Hurts" out in a few weeks from @theexperiment Like Maya Sorini, whose poem "What Does a Medical Student Do All Day?" offers a profound glimpse into a day-in- the-life during medical training. Sorini is a narrative medicine scholar, medical student, essayist and award-winning poet. Her first collection, The Boneheap in the Lion's Den, won the 2023 Press 53 Award for Poetry and was a semifinalist for the 2024 Poetry Society of Virginia North American Book Award. Sorini, who earned an MS in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, has been a workshop facilitator and lecturer in the program during her medical training. @narrative_medicine @awpwriter #poetrycommunity #narrativemedicine #poem

REVIEW TIME! @PublishersWkly included our anthology in their Spring 2026 Previews in Politics & Current Events : “Collects writings by health care workers reflecting on their struggles with burnout, frustration, fear, and self-doubt, as well as the joys and successes that make their vocation worth it.” And @ALA_Booklist reviewer Tony Miksanek wrote insightful & truly lovely words about it too. Many thanks! Counting down to 3/24/26 when our anthology comes out. #narrativemedicine #bookreviews #graphicmedicine @narrative_medicine
