We can't wait to release Episode 1, feat. the one and only @LFeldmanBarrett, who's written almost a dozen pieces for James Ryerson @nytopinion. They talk about her work @affectivescilab, her introduction to popular writing, her decision to write a book, & everything in between.

Easily the best workshop out there for academics looking to do public-facing work. Would highly recommend applying!
Joseph Fridman@joseph_fridman

Applications are live for our NYT editor-taught next writing workshop for academics and researchers, which will be held @Northeastern on October 18th & 19th. Apps are short, 3 pitches, CV, writing sample, due July 30th. You need not be a tenure-track academic, just need to have defended/received your terminal doctorate degree (JD, MD, PhD) by the time of the workshop. 12 attendees are selected and come into the workshop with a first draft of a 800-1200 word 'ideas' piece (as I like to say, "short pieces for wide audiences about big ideas"), and walk out with a polished, pitchable draft and the skills to produce many more. You'll also receive $2,000 to defray the cost of coming to Boston, as well as ongoing support for years to with yours truly. Apply here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI… You can see pieces by our alums here: beyondtheivorytower.com/pieces Sign up to learn about future workshops here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
