@bekamaciorowski worked in the medical field for the past 15 years. Just in the US, she volunteered at countless homeless shelters, worked in the most acutely understaffed medical facilities, at the VA as an RN, personally delivered supplies + care to underprivileged elderly patients (she bought these medical supplies with her own limited money) & saved thousands during the COVID crisis. She doesn’t spend a dime of “fundraising” on herself. She will take the coat off her back for anyone who needs it more. I know this because I’m her sister. And I’ve witnessed it firsthand.

On March 3rd, around 21:00, our M113 evacuation vehicle was struck by a succession of FPV drones. Den was driving. He was our comrade, our warrior, and our beloved legendary M113 driver. Den was the one who carried the wounded out in that M113 when others refused the task. Night after night, he drove routes of unspeakable risk. He knew exactly what the risk was every time that engine started. He went anyway, because someone out there needed to be brought home alive. Supplies needed to be delivered. The work had to be done. On that night the drones kept coming. The vehicle was hit again and again. Den did not survive. War has a way of taking people who should have had decades left to live. Den should still be here. Instead we are left with the silence that follows a loss like this. I keep thinking about the simple truth that behind every evacuation vehicle, every mission, every report written after the fact, there is a person inside who chose to go. Den chose to go. He will be missed far more than words can properly say. Rest easy, Den. We will carry your memory with us.

A memory a day. October 2025. London, UK. I traveled to London with some of my sisters-in-arms to attend a film premiere of a video about female medics serving in the Ukrainian military. Myself and a few others were featured in the movie. In this photo, we are attending a fundraiser for the Ukrainian army.

Yesterday at approximately 13:00, two KAB-250 aerial bombs struck my medical point. The first detonation occurred while I was on the porch organizing medical supplies. Inside, my nurse @once_upon_a_travel_nurse was caring for recovering servicemen, assisted by @ryeioww. Another female soldier was preparing food. Two servicemen under active care were present, including one with severe combat injuries resulting in blindness and loss of function in one leg. Immediately after the first strike, my nurse and I established verbal contact and confirmed that all personnel were alive. Without hesitation, the team responded with discipline and composure. We began evacuating the wounded from the structure, moving them across the street while coordinating transport for further evacuation. During this process, a second bomb struck. The second impact, a FAB-250, is a 250-kilogram high-explosive aerial bomb carrying approximately 120 kilograms of explosive material, designed to destroy infrastructure and fortified positions with a blast radius of roughly 120 meters. It detonated directly at the rear of the medical point. The explosion caused a structural collapse. The ceiling fell onto my nurse, who, despite the impact, continued providing care. I sustained shrapnel injury to the thigh. Vivi maintained focus and continued assisting with the evacuation, ensuring the wounded were loaded into a vehicle. All vehicles at the site were destroyed. The medical point was completely demolished. Despite the scale of the strike, all personnel survived. The strength and resilience of my amazing girls is unmatched, and without them, the outcome would have been much different

Incredibly grateful for the amount of support and encouragement in the last few days. I haven’t had a chance to look through all the messages. I’m in some kind of fog. Finding a new place to put my medical point has been extremely challenging. But we are still working.

A ceasefire, Russian style: A drone strikes an ambulance in Sumy region, injuring three medics. Yesterday, under that same “ceasefire,” they killed a Ukrainian evacuation team carrying wounded soldiers.

🚨 Oleshky IS DYING OF HUNGER RIGHT NOW — 2026, EUROPE! The city is in complete blockade. Since mid-February, almost no food has been brought in! — The reserves ran out long ago. Real hunger is beginning. The occupiers do nothing, they block all roads with mines, barbed wire, and checkpoints. At the main exit toward Holaya Prystan, they turn people back with the words “let them die there.” The latest attempts to break through with food ended in the deaths of the drivers. Prices are insane. There is no electricity, no gas, no clean water, no heating, no medicines. The hospital is not working. People are already catching pheasants in cage traps just to have some kind of meat. And from hunger, dogs have started eating cats. This is not horror stories — this is what the residents themselves are saying. The Red Cross, the UN, and all international organizations are silent and doing nothing. The russian authorities in Oleshky completely ignore the situation. The Ukrainian authorities also cannot help in any way! Without worldwide noise, nothing will change. This is not Africa. This is the left bank of the Kherson region. In 2026. In Europe. People are dying of hunger while everyone keeps scrolling the feed. Make a repost right now. Exactly 4 years ago today, 🇺🇸 nurse @bekamaciorowski crossed the Ukrainian border. Fighting was still raging in Irpin, Bucha, & at Hostomel airport. Not a happy anniversary, but am deeply impressed by Beka’s commitment to 🇺🇦 & her incredible, lifesaving work for her soldiers.

Jessica Hauser, Alex Pretti’s final nursing student, posted this on Facebook: “I was Alex Pretti’s final nursing student. He was my friend and my nursing mentor. For the past four months, I stood shoulder to shoulder with him during my capstone preceptorship at the Minneapolis VA Hospital. There he trained me to care for the sickest of the sick as an ICU nurse. He taught me how to care for arterial and central lines, the intricacies of managing multiple IVs filled with lifesaving solutions, and how to watch over every heartbeat, every breath, and every flicker of life, ready to act the moment they wavered. Techniques intended to heal. Alex carried patience, compassion and calm as a steady light within him. Even at the very end, that light was there. I recognized his familiar stillness and signature calm composure shining through during those unbearable final moments captured on camera. It does not surprise me that his final words were, “Are you okay?” Caring for people was at the core of who he was. He was incapable of causing harm. He lived a life of healing, and he lived it well. Alex believed strongly in the Second Amendment and in the rights rooted in our Constitution and its amendments. He spoke out for justice and peace whenever he could, not only out of obligation, but out of a belief that we are more connected than divided, and that communication would bring us together. I want his family to know his legacy lives on. I am a better nurse because of the wisdom and skills he instilled in me. I carry his light with me into every room, letting it guide and steady my hands as I heal and care for those in need. Please honor my friend by standing up for peace, preferably with a cup of black coffee in hand and a couple of pieces of candy in your pocket, just as he would. He would remind you that caring for others is hard work, and we must do whatever it takes to get through the long shifts. Step outside with your dog, breathe in the world, hike or bike as he loved to do, and let yourself find peace in the quiet moments within nature. Stand up for justice and speak with those whose views differ from your own. Hold your beliefs with strength, but always extend love outward, even in the face of adversity. Take one step, no matter how small, to help heal our world. Through these acts, carry his light forward in his name. Let his legacy continue to heal.”
