🇮🇳India just cut its oil demand growth forecast by 40%. The Hormuz crisis is now hitting the world's fastest-growing major economy. India's refined products demand growth from 128 kbd to just 77 kbd in 2026. Crude prices are $30/bbl higher than before the Iran war. The rupee is weaker. Pump prices up ₹7.5/litre for petrol and diesel. India imports 85% of its crude every dollar counts. The austerity response is real: → Government urging carpooling, work-from-home, public transport → Modi asking citizens to postpone overseas travel and gold purchases for a year → Gold import duties raised from 6% to 15% → FX reserves down from $728B to $691B in 6 weeks India is managing a balance of payments crisis triggered by an energy shock it didn't start. 70% of crude imports now routed outside Hormuz up from 55% before the crisis. Sourcing from 40+ countries. Russia still over 1/3 of total imports. The diversification is real but expensive. Longer routes mean higher freight costs on top of higher prices. Modi is targeting $100B in domestic exploration by 2030. Nearly 1 million sq km of previously restricted offshore zones now open for drilling. India is using the crisis to accelerate energy independence. But that's a 2030 story. Right now, it's paying the price. The world's most important demand growth story just downgraded by 40%. That's what a closed Hormuz does to an economy that runs on imported oil.

🚨Bengal’s First Oil Field Finally Set for Production After Years of Delay, Ashoknagar Oil Field Can Produce 240 Million Barrels Oil. After years of political deadlock, regulatory uncertainty, and stalled industrial momentum, West Bengal’s first major oil field is finally moving toward production. The Ashoknagar Oil Field, discovered by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in 2018, is now being positioned as a strategic breakthrough for both India’s energy security and the revival of Bengal’s struggling industrial economy. Located in North 24 Parganas, barely 50 kilometers from Kolkata, the Ashoknagar field was once described by ONGC as a potential “game changer” for Eastern India. Surveys indicated reserves of nearly 240 million barrels of oil equivalent, along with significant natural gas and condensate deposits, a scale large enough to reshape the energy landscape of the region. For nearly seven years, however, the project remained trapped in limbo. Land-related disputes, environmental concerns, compensation issues, and intense political friction between the Centre and the previous state administration prevented production from taking off. Even after investments of nearly ₹1,000 crore had already been committed, the project failed to move beyond the planning stage. Repeated appeals from Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for cooperation reportedly went unanswered, despite the strategic importance of the field. Employment generation is another major factor. From pipeline infrastructure and refining support to transportation, maintenance, engineering, and ancillary industries, the project could create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in a state that has seen large-scale migration due to industrial decline. The economic upside for the state government is equally massive. According to earlier estimates highlighted by the Petroleum Ministry, the value of recoverable oil could reach nearly ₹45,000 crore, with West Bengal itself expected to earn around ₹4,500 crore in direct revenue over time. If production finally begins at full scale, Ashoknagar could become the foundation of an entirely new energy and industrial corridor in the region.

Today, I submitted a written request to Union Minister for Minority Affairs @KirenRijiju ji seeking the exercise of the Centre's supervisory powers to remove properties that have been illegally uploaded on the UMEED portal. The Waqf Board registered 404 acres of Munambam land on the portal without complying with the provisions of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) framework and the applicable provisions of the Waqf Act. Under the law, only the Mutawalli is authorised to upload Waqf property records to the UMEED portal. In this case, that authority rests with Farook College. Yet, without following due process, the Waqf Board unilaterally registered the property. These violations have been formally brought to the attention of the Government of India, and we expect appropriate action at the earliest. The people of Munambam deserve justice, and we will continue to pursue every legal and administrative avenue until it is delivered. #APAKADAMPolitics

@Manish_Pajan Yeah! They have the Super Hero Syndrome. They think they save the world. The whole idea of Aliens is also built on this theory that “Humanity has a common enemy” and only US has a wherewithal to defend humanity. Cunning minds.

Country’s planning of Capital has to be postponed because few hundred people have Homeloans? Let this narrative not be dominated by the “Kandahar Victim Family” kind of tought process. Such selfish thought processes cause serious injury to Nation’s momentum.

#WATCH | Delhi | Nandan Singh Negi, President of the Staff Welfare Association at the Delhi Gymkhana Club says, "Our case is pending before the High Court. We have complete faith in the High Court that our workers will receive justice. This is a matter concerning the livelihoods of at least 600 to 700 workers...Some have taken housing loans; how will they repay them? It was for these reasons that we approached the Honorable High Court, and we respect the Court's authority...We remain hopeful that the High Court will grant us due justice and dignity, and that our livelihoods will remain intact"

Now he knows first hand how difficult your job is, eh? Now, do you wish to piss-off Indians by meddling in Indian Affairs or maintain a respectful relationship? My guess is, US has a compulsion for meddling, and getting treated poorly, till US begins to fail as a State.

It was an absolute honor to host my friend @SecRubio in India for the past four days! We held productive meetings with Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar, and NSA Doval. We traveled through Kolkata, New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, celebrated America’s 250th birthday, and capped the visit with a highly successful Quad meeting. America’s foreign policy is in outstanding hands with Secretary Marco Rubio at the helm!

#WATCH | Mumbai: On the issue of the shed built for sacrifice in Mira Road before Eid ul-Adha, Maharashtra Samajwadi Party President Abu Azmi says, "The government should pay attention and allow this festival (Eid ul-Adha) to be celebrated properly. There should be no tension among people. It's a festival, sacrifice is essential. It is obligatory. If a person is Muslim and has the means, they should perform the sacrifice, but according to the law, the government should provide a separate place in every society."
