In a movie about implanting cliche fantasies in people's minds to make them do stuff, no one recognizes this one? Really?? (I'm convinced Nolan is with you all, which leads to the confusion I find interesting.)

"You idiot, daddy, the international criminal/widower who can't remember his children's faces is risking his life in extravagant ways *for them*, to get home, so he can take over for their competent grandparents. He said so. He's on the way, that's him at the door now. 🥹"

I've only seen a handful of Nolan movies but the most interesting thing to me is that they often seem surreally confused about their own narrative stakes. What is DiCaprio's motivation in Inception? Why does Oppenheimer kinda imply an era of atomic warfare that did not occur?

Man... The film has many characters who clearly state that this is the plan -- that the bomb will end all war -- and this clearly hasn't happened (incl. attacks on nuclear states). Not to mention we probably had a 25+% chance of nuclear war in the 20th century (see black saturday, stanislav petrov). Oppenheimer envisions a world of vast nuclear proliferation and ensuing instability, and this is what we have!

NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0. I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start. It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people. Barley Studios will be my new AI studio for creating my own films, the way Oats Studios was for traditional film and VFX. @Barleystudiosai Full film in the reply.

Better casting, deeper writing, emotional and intimate characterization conveyed through both images and performances. They're not even in the same category, I challenge anyone to find me a Denis film with a single scene as sloppilled as the bulk of Insomnia or TDKR.

A lot of tasteless people speaking on Villeneuve right now so let me clear the air and say 2049 mogs Nolan's capeslop filmography as well as the original BR.

@LuciNolanShill When nolan did a avengers post credit scene to tease Einstein and jfk (sort of like superheroes of history if you will!) I knew I was watching a real master auteur at work. Chills!

The thing about Villeneuve is he’s extremely competent but just because he knows what he’s doing doesn’t mean what he’s doing is all that great. Nolan’s evolution as an artist in the 2020s is far more compelling to me than literally any of Denis’ work
normal guy@notsotroubled

The Odyssey kinda put the whole Nolan vs. Villeneuve comparisons to bed for me. Denis is clearly the better director/writer and I think Dune 3 might be the nail in the coffin

@jogothy There are plenty of games that fit the criteria out there, just keep playing more stuff and you’ll find some. I think dark souls 1 is a completely reasonable pick for this though

@punishednuz Also to directly address your point dunc changes chani to act as the moral center of the story and make some things more clear to the audience in absence of the book's narration. That's an obvious example of Villeneuve's "take" on dune.

@punishednuz 1. Can't write women 2. Dark knight rises 3. Marvelized post credits tier epic reveals of Einstein and JFK 4. Piss poor understanding of communism and exonerative framing on much of Opp's actions Ose plus jamais mettre le nom du réal de capeslop dans la même phrase que Villeneuve
