@John_Attridge Based. It gets better: "causation" is not just unknowable, it's utter nonsense when you realise that everything is what it is in its own right. Who heard of one thing "causing" another, distinct thing to be what it is, as if it could be anything else, lmao. It's called Identity.

More evidence that its economics that is the least ideological social science — people left and right can talk to each other because our common language is unindeological
Phil Magness@PhilWMagness

Economics is - by a long shot - the most politically balanced academic discipline, according to a LLM study that scored the political skew of academic journal articles. It still leans left-of-center but not hegemonically so like the others (higher score = more left wing)

According to grok: The bodycam shows a 22-year-old student teacher at John L. Hensey Elementary in Washington, IL. A kid closed her laptop, deleting her lesson plan. Frustrated, she sent a Snapchat (video/text) to her private story/close friends (including bf/roommates): "student deleted my lesson plan, should I shoot him or nah?" (or "pew pew the kid"). Snapchat's AI flagged it as a threat, auto-reported to FBI, who notified local sheriff's office. Cops arrived at school within ~1 hour, took her phone, interviewed her (she called it a stupid joke), then arrested her for disorderly conduct. She cried and admitted it was dumb during questioning. Case from late Jan 2025, bodycam recently circulating.

It seems that the hacker who briefly took over my account blocked a bunch of people and unfollowed some others including my co- author @alexolegimas. I have re-followed Alex but if you think you were also dropped a couple weeks ago lmk?

This Bayesian emotional roller-coaster comes up in life fairly often & doesn't have a name, afaik: "Not happy we caught a mouse (because it means we had mice) but conditional upon being in the state of having mice (which we are---we just caught one), I'm happy we caught it"

@RealBenLuigi @ebitdaddy90 I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me, and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.
