Today, U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, when an unknown male driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled the scene. An unknown number of agitators also threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol’s vehicles. Chicago Police Department was called for assistance and cleared the scene.  The shooter and vehicle remain at large, and this is a dynamic situation.    This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction. Over the past two months, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations. These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end.

The ones failing to protect Marylanders are @ChrisVanHollen, @Sen_Alsobrooks, and @GovWesMoore — who either voted for or support keeping the government shut down, cutting off SNAP benefits for 680,000 people. Don’t lecture anyone about “protecting people” while you’re the ones taking food off their tables.
Governor Wes Moore@GovWesMoore

680,000 Marylanders rely on SNAP to put food on the table, including: 120,000 older adults, 270,000 children and, 120,000 Marylanders with disabilities. The federal government is leaving them in limbo. But in Maryland, we protect our people.

My team has already initiated a review of the Biden administration’s reported use of autopen for pardons. @RepJamesComer’s new information is extremely helpful, and his leadership on this issue is invaluable. We’ll continue working with @GOPoversight to deliver accountability for the American people.

It’s strange to see a POTUS bragging about something that so clearly spotlights his utter inability to effectively lead our country. A private citizen contributing $130 million to pay our military because Republicans in Congress are under TRUMP’s orders not to budge on canceling healthcare for TENS OF MILLIONS of American citizens isn’t the win this bloated, orange lethally stupid & incompetent moron thinks it is.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."

@SenFettermanPA Yes, well, when the 422,000 Pennsylvanians lose their healthcare, we’ll be sure to tell them that you voted with the Republicans to ensure that happens. Next month, Pennsylvania can see their health premiums double and triple but their hearts will be warmed by your conviction.

Really?! Chuck Schumer just blocked our bill to pay our troops and essential workers during the shutdown! This is wrong! If you can't bring yourself to cross party lines to ensure our troops get a paycheck, you should reconsider why you ran for Congress.
