Some replies here really demonstrate how some people would rather have a play style be handed to them rather than building their own play style and creating—discovering their own fun. A blank canvas where your unique style is the art. I think FFXVI’s combat is beautiful in this way and it’s what keeps me coming back.

Finally finished with the funeral for my uncle. It's been a long week but I'm kinda glad that it's over. My family's been kind of stressed out with the preparations since he was really close to us. But I'm happy that he's finally resting in peace and not suffering anymore.

But from the video that I've seen, there's no slowdown. The timing for the infinite changes a lot on actual hardware, making it really inconsistent to perform.

Always going for highest damage by using a move that restands and gives you oki on hit anywhere on the screen will do this, yes, but you are making a choice.

@Chaser_Tech If you ever get to 16 I HIGHLY recommend getting a save file so you can play at the highest difficulty right away. Enemies are the most aggressive in ultimaniac, default difficulty is way too easy.

It’s the clearest term that we have. “Hack n slash” is way too broad and doesn’t tell me what I’m playing. “Character action” is specific enough for that type of game

@Chaser_Tech You're right but I think this can go for most genres in general. You can say the same about metroidvanias or kart racer, etc. No one genre is constantly building something new rather than use the same formula

The problem is that most soulslikes use the same formula rather than build something new.
Some games used bits of the formula like Nioh and made it's own thing. But when games have their whole foundation around parrying/dodging, people tend to get tired of it.

Hard disagree, you are tired of playing all of them the same way Each souls games introduces new mechanics, weapons, etc They are not all the same, your playstyle is. Each one of my playthroughs are different and I haven't gotten bored after like 5 years. Best games of all time
