Look, folks, there is no use in sugar coating this. Stuff like this is NEVER going to get better because it's a cultural problem. It's a cultural problem of terrible, awful parenting in certain segments of society, which passes down from one generation to another the idea that it's OK to run around like garbage thugs, with guns, not for self defense but for shooting and killing other garbage thugs, breaking laws, disregarding social order, disregarding authority, terrorizing (and even killing) innocent people, and that there is nothing wrong with fatherless homes with no self respect for civilized society, themselves and what they are responsible for, etc. And we're NEVER going to fix the cultural problem until we first perform mass incarceration. And I mean MASS incarceration. Drug crime? Locked up for life. Assault? Locked up for life? Any crime with a gun in a non-self-defense situation? Locked up for life. Gang activity? Locked up for life. Intentional destruction of property? Locked up for life. Zero parole every time. And you don't even consider rehabilitation. Because the cancer is too far gone. It would be like emptying the ocean with a teaspoon, in the rain. And if that "disproportionally affects minorities", then so be it. If that's where the cancer predominantly is, so be it. It must be cut out of society with extreme prejudice. And of course they'll say, "F*ck you! I'M not a bad parent! How can you say it's MY fault when all the other 'kids' (actually: thugs) are out there living this way too? My child has no choice! They'd just be dead meat if they just try to 'avoid that life'! It's the OTHER 'kids' parents that are the problem!" But that's just utter bullsh*t. Because to those other parents, THEY are the other parents, and in reality they are ALL just part of the cancer. And they'll try to say "It's the system's fault! We're targeted! We're oppressed!" too. But that's utter bullsh*t also. Because what part of the system says you're supposed to run around with guns shooting each other, assaulting random people on the streets, holding up and smash-and-grab businesses, shooting at cops, trashing business and have utter disregard for ANY type of authority? "Oh but it's because 'The System' doesn't give us enough opportunity!" So? First, that's bullsh*t too. You know how much we hand out each year to the "disadvantaged"? It's astronomical. And even if that were true. So? Somehow that would still make it okay to run around with guns shooting each other, assaulting random people on the streets, holding up and smash-and-grab businesses, shooting at cops, trashing businesses and have utter disregard for ANY type of authority? Defender of the Crown (1986 by Cinemaware) is an all-time classic. I will take an educated guess and say anyone who played games in the 80s also played this one. If not, you really missed out... Stunning graphics, gorgeous music, perfect cutscenes. And yes, an average gameplay... but honestly, who cared back then when you could feast your eyes on one of most beautifully designed games ever? The iconic siege sequence with the catapult (let's throw in some greek fire, yeah!), the sword fight in the castle with the incredible shadow-play background, the beautiful maiden waiting for the hero to rescue her, the jousting, and the crowds cheering for the champion! And yes, somewhere in between you move your armies around, too. It was Cinemware's first ever game and original published for the Amiga. I chose the C64 port for the video, purely for nostalgic reasons, as it was the first one I played and I couldn't get enough of it. The game was hugely a critical and commercial success, praised for pushing systems to its graphical limits. I don't recall a game from 1986 with better graphics for the C64. What system did you first play it on?
