⚠️ On Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at about 8 a.m., our traffic officers stopped a driver travelling 162 km/h on northbound Deerfoot near 32 Avenue N.E. During the traffic stop, officers discovered the driver did not have a valid registration or insurance. The vehicle was towed & the driver was issued multiple summonses. 🛑 Speeding puts everyone on the road at risk. High speeds reduce reaction time & increase the severity of collisions. Posted speed limits are designed for ideal weather & road conditions. Slow down & give yourself extra time to reach your destination safely. 🔗 Join the Drive to Zero: Calgary.ca/visionzero

@CalgaryPolice As for healing lodges, yes fantastic idea...but only AFTER they have been charged to the full extent of the law and make it accessible in prison so that when they are released, they are rehabilitated. Simple solution.

🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 On Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025 at approx. 5:30 p.m., a man was dropping his granddaughter off in the southeast community of Walden, while his wife remained in the backseat of their vehicle. @CalgaryPolice Poor Driver. That must have been traumatizing for he or she. Sure hope the pedestrian pulls though and learns his lesson as a result of this. What the heck was this person doing crossing an intersection on a green light. I sure hope the driver of the vehicle is not put at fault.

🔵 ONGOING INVESTIGATION 🔵 Our Traffic Section is investigating a collision that occurred on Monday evening that left a pedestrian in critical condition. 📍 At approx. 6:35 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, it is believed that a 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by a man in his 30s, was travelling eastbound on 16th Avenue at Second Street N.W. At the same time, a male pedestrian in his 30s was standing on the median at the crosswalk of 16th Avenue & Second Street N.W. The Nissan Rogue entered the intersection on a green light & at the same time, the pedestrian began to cross 16th Avenue, travelling south & he was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene & was not injured. Speed & impairment on the part of the driver are not believed to be factors in the collision. ℹ️ So far in 2025, there have been 435 traffic collisions involving pedestrians. Of these, 12 were fatal & 405 resulted in injuries. 🚧 Road safety is everyone’s responsibility & we continue to remind drivers & pedestrians to look out for one another to ensure everyone’s safety. @SweetTaroline @GlobalCalgary Exactly one of my questions too. The other is, why have authorities called off the search and not continued with a recovery effort search if this poor baby boy is presumed to be dead. More of our lovely UCP Premiers cutbacks? Or do they suspect something else has happened to him

ℹ️ In response to concerns regarding unsafe speeds & collision frequency at several intersections, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) has received approval from the provincial government to resume the use of Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) at specific locations. In December 2024, mandatory restrictions resulted in the removal of ATE on all provincial highways, as well as limiting the use of Intersection Devices (ISDs) for red-light enforcement only on non-provincial roads & connectors. This change also resulted in the removal of speed-on-green ISDs at intersections. Law enforcement agencies are permitted to submit a business case exemption request to the provincial government to reinstate the use of ATE at high-risk areas for serious-injury or fatal collisions. 📸 As of Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, ISDs for both red-light & speed enforcement will resume at the following locations: 🔹 Both eastbound & westbound 16 Avenue at 68 Street N.E. 🔹 Both eastbound & westbound Highway 1A at Twelve Mile Coulee Road N.W. Additional locations for ATE will be announced pending approval from the provincial government. 🌐 For more information, visit: newsroom.calgary.ca/provincial-gov…

It was an absolute joy to walk in today’s Pride Parade through downtown Edmonton! 🌈 It was so great to have this celebration return after seven years. It was an inspiring and moving parade full of love, spirit and energy from the crowd and the community. Thank you to everyone who came out to show your pride and your support. Thank you for always continuing to fight back against laws that hurt Albertans. Today was definitely a powerful reminder that Albertans are truly Better Together.

🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 We have charged 6 men & 1 youth in relation to luring & targeted assaults that occurred after meeting on a dating app. On Friday, March 14, 2025, we responded to reports of a man who claimed to have been assaulted by a group of unknown individuals. Further investigation determined that the man had arranged to meet up with someone after communicating on an online dating app. Once at the agreed-upon location, 4 individuals emerged from a vehicle, confronting the man, assaulting him with a baseball bat, a replica firearm & then slashing both the interior of the vehicle & the tires before fleeing. Investigators reviewed CCTV & were able to identify a vehicle of interest in the assault. They also worked closely with our analytical team to determine if there were any similar incidents in the city. Further analysis revealed there had been 2 other assaults that investigators believed were perpetrated by the same individuals. Investigators believe that a group of 3 men & 1 youth posed as underage teens on a dating app, attempting to lure men to secluded areas in order to assault them. Police also recovered video of the assaults from cell phones & while 3 of these assaults have been reported to police, there may be additional incidents that have not yet been reported to police. As a result of the investigation 3 adults & 1 youth, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged in relation to the assaults. 📌 Alexander RODDICK, 18, Reyad Said ABUNADA, 18 & 1 youth, all of Calgary, have each been charged with 4 counts each of aggravated assault, mischief over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose & conspiracy to commit an indictable offense. They have also been charged with 1 count each of robbery with a firearm and extortion. RODDICK will next appear in court on Friday, May 9 ,2025. ABUNADA will next appear in court on Friday, May 23, 2025. The youth will next appear in court tomorrow, Friday, May 2, 2025. 📌 Devon William HICKEY, 19, of Calgary has been charged with 1 count each of aggravated assault, mischief over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, robbery with a firearm, extortion & disguise with intent. HICKEY will next appear in court on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. 📌 As a further result of the investigation, 3 men who were the victims of the assaults have also been charged in relation to arranging to meet a minor for a sexual purpose. Victor Gonzales VILLANUEVA, 38, David Patrick WATKINS, 68 & Jonathan ROSETE, 33, all of Calgary, have been charged with 1 count each of child luring & invitation to sexual touching. They are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Our Hate Crime Prevention Team is investigating whether hate motivation was a factor in the assaults. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police by calling the non-emergency line. 🌐 newsroom.calgary.ca/charges-laid-a…

To clarify the charges laid in this incident, attempted robbery involves having the intent to take property or belongings from someone & can include using force, a weapon, or violence to intimidate a person. However, in an attempted robbery, the individual will not have been successful in stealing or taking items from the victim. Any force used still forms part of the overall charge & is more serious than an assault charge. The incident occurred at the City Hall/Bow Valley College CTrain station rather than the Third Street CTrain station.
Calgary Police@CalgaryPolice

We are aware of a video circulating on social media that depicts an incident involving a woman standing on a downtown CTrain station platform. 📍On Sunday, March 23, 2025, at approx. 1:40 p.m., the victim was standing on the south side of the Third Street S.E. CTrain station, located at 310C Seventh Ave. S.E., when she was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her water bottle & splashed her in the face with it. He then grabbed her & began shaking her while demanding her cellphone. The man fled the scene without the victim’s cellphone & the victim subsequently called police. Witnesses helped locate the suspect & a short time later the man was arrested in East Village. 📌 As a result, Braydon Joseph James FRENCH, 31, of Calgary, has been charged with 1 count of attempted robbery. At this time the incident is not believed to be racially motivated, however, our Diversity Resource Team is engaging with those in the community who are impacted by this incident. The victim has been offered supports & is respectfully asking for privacy. “Thanks to the support of witnesses in the area & to the swift actions of our members, we were able to make an arrest within 25 minutes of this incident,” says Calgary Police Service District 1 Inspector Jason Bobrowich. “These types of incidents cause concern in the community & will not be tolerated in our city.”

🔵 ONGOING INVESTIGATION 🔵 Calgarians should be cautious as a series of distraction thefts continue to occur across the city. 📍 We are investigating a series of thefts that started to be reported to police in early February 2025. At this point in the investigation, it has not been confirmed if these thefts are related, but they are a growing trend across Calgary. Distraction thefts come in various forms, but they typically occur while victims are in parking lots or waiting in public areas. They are approached by offenders who will potentially use elaborate stories to request money in exchange for gold or jewelry, use fake gold or jewelry as collateral to borrow money, place fake jewelry on victims as a gift & while being in close physical proximity, steal real jewelry the victim is wearing or some variation of these tactics. Stolen property can be reported online, at any district office or by calling the non-emergency line. Anyone with information about similar incidents is asked to contact police. 🌐 newsroom.calgary.ca/police-warn-ca…
