@TimFath1 @Owennfa That's about 105k today, about double what you'd get for an entry level office job out of school today.

BOOMER: "I fed my family of four on $30 a week back in 1970." ME: "That's $230 adjusted for inflation." BOOMER: "Exactly. You should be able to do the same." ME: "Groceries for my family of four are $400 a week now." BOOMER: "You're just buying expensive stuff." ME: "I'm buying the same basic food. Milk, bread, chicken, vegetables." BOOMER: "Well wages must be higher too." ME: "My job pays $50,000. Yours paid $35,000 in 1970. Adjusted that's $270,000." BOOMER: "That can't be right." ME: "It is. Your salary grew with inflation. Food prices grew faster." BOOMER: "You're just complaining." ME: "You're just not looking at the math." You didn't have better budgeting skills. You had wages that kept up with the cost of living. Mine don't.

@sull1vannolan @thechosenberg Maybe I just wasn't "loyal" enough but I've been buying new cars for 40 years and never been offered anything other than a coupon for a discounted oil change or a free car wash.

@thechosenberg While getting my car serviced yesterday a boomer told me how the car company used to send him things like a free car stereo or tires as a thank you for being such a loyal customer. They grew up in a different universe.

The mathematical cost of simply stocking a basic kitchen right now is getting completely dystopian. Fresh beef prices just hit a record high of 9.64 dollars a pound, while a simple dozen eggs averages 3.59 dollars at the grocery store. When a regular worker has to spend nearly 10 dollars just for a single pound of protein before they even factor in taxes, utilities, or the national median rent of 1,672 dollars a month, the math for basic human survival completely falls apart. They keep broadcasting headlines telling us the economy has completely stabilized, but the grocery receipt tells a completely different story. Let that sink in.

@LeahRain77 He should take it to court. If he has a clean record, the judge will likely cancel the ticket.

This man’s wife went into labor while in his truck so he sped up to get to the nearest hospital. Apparently, the Holmes county sheriff caught him and pulled him over as he was entering the hospital parking lot . The man explained the situation about his wife, and the sheriff’s reply was instead of speeding you should’ve pulled over and waited for the EMT to come.. The sheriff proceeded to give him a ticket once he got to the hospital instead of an escort . You can hear his frustration in the video. He’s not getting violent with the sheriff, but he is telling him off and in this case I agree this sheriff was completely out of line. Did the man break the speeding law,? sure he did, but he had a good reason. Obviously, this sheriff is in the minority, I believe most cops would have escorted this gentleman, and his wife to the hospital and got them checked in properly to make sure that she was OK, but like any other profession, there’s good and bad.. and this is an example of an extremely bad decision on the sheriffs part in my opinion.

@thisisnew_me1 Actually, my first house was $52K but my mortgage was 11.5%. I sold that about 8 years ago and bought a smaller but nicer house for $180K. It's worth about $280K today.

I was just a kid, so maybe someone can explain to me how Ronald Reagan won 49 states in 1984? Especially when you look at where we are today.

@wjchristianson @CBKReport Did you even watch the game? With Edey matched up with Clingan, UConn seldom doubled Edey. Beside that, Painter has 4 BIG regular season championship in the last 10 years, 4 Sweet Sixteens, 2 Elite Eights, and 1 National Final game. Who has a better resume over that period?

@CBKReport What’s so good about painter? He made zero adjustments during the national championship game. All his offense was was to dumb into Edey and they have to double so he could kick out for three.

Trans-identified male player for Kipp Academy in MA injured 3 girls before half time causing Lowell Collegiate Charter School to forfeit. A man hitting a woman used to be called domestic abuse. Now it's called brave. Who watches this & actually thinks this is "compassionate, kind, and inclusive"?

@hoosiercommish A United States judge looked at all the facts of the case and said he could play. So your beef is with the judge and judicial system or the kid who is innocent until proven otherwise?

I wouldn’t call that a speech issue, I’d call that budgetary war. I’d prefer they take on a weapons system than a press secretary’s salary
Can You See the Line@CanYouSeeLine

@MikeBenzCyber @mtaibbi Today the House started to indirectly censor the White House Press Secretary by reducing her salary to one dollar. Is this type of censorship acceptable, because it is transparent?

@walterl15332544 @SaltyDrave @jayphoward @CovingtonEDU Plus, in Indiana, only state money leaves with the student. Local money (property tax) stays local. Average voucher in Indiana is about $5400. Average state support for traditional public schools is about $6700. Additional support brings the total per student north of $10,000.

@EricMMatheny It’s not a bad thing for 99% of the population. The stock market literally has no meaning to poor people. Especially when you consider that it will rebound almost immediately. Stock market. It’s all a scam.
